💯 that an accessible scripting language in the browser is a boon. I have many gripes with the type system, e.g. null and undefined which serve the same purpose, but have subtly different semantics, a number type that only represents floating point values. Alas, we’re stuck with it.
My secret hope is that WASM will save us all… write in a language that’s enjoyable for you, the developer, in my case Rust or Python, compile to WASM, and ship where you want to.
What’s super weird to me is that JavaScript has a lot of functional programming features, but the syntax feels like C. And an awful type system. 😱🙀
but the learning curve is so shallow, and it’s hard, maybe impossible beating out the size of the installed base.
The core of the debate, IMO, comes down to aesthetics. But I don’t know if the outcome of the debate matters as much as what happens next. To wit, most people used C instead of Lisp. And today JavaScript is eating the world. JacaScript’s aesthetics, runtime, and user experience are unpleasant IMO…

An opinion I feel should be universal at this point: All indoor public spaces (but especially schools, workplaces, and medical facilities) should be subject to air quality regulations and continuous monitoring and CO2 and particulate concentration numbers should be accessibly displayed.
