"great healthcare for life"
In CA, if you are older and retired (younger folks are on a different plan) you can pay for the health plan your former employer used to pay for. The Kaiser plan costs $1100-1200/month out of pockets and the cost goes up every year.
This is important work. Congrats!

The meme used to be "Portland, where young people go to retire". Now it's $168/month apartments outside Shanghai.

When I moved to the D.C. area for a work assignment one of the rentals I checked out was in Takoma Park. The landlady was an insufferable white Boomer just like this. Lots of petty, insane rules around her tenant's actions. I passed on that option.

Before I block folks I sometimes take a peek at their profile and recent posts and ask myself "Is there any reason to give this person a second chance?"
The answer so far has always been "No".

With this new project UCSD will have the most on-campus housing - about 30,500 beds - of any US university. Currently UCSD and UCLA are tied with 24,500 beds each.

Yes, the headline is click-bait-y (aren't they all?) but IMO this reporting by the Globe and Mail is pretty solid. It asks hard questions about outcomes in Canada and Alabama and has some ideas about what both places could learn from each other.
