Three small PCBs, one with the pins exposed. There's jumper wires nearby that are clearly too big. A dime and another board with larger pins are in the shot for size reference.
Bah, I am not doing so hot on getting temperature sensors for my #HomeAssistant DIY project.
This time I have the BME280 shuttle board (rather than just the sensor) but the pins are very tiny. Smaller than the jumper wire ports I have.

On the top there's a card with the current status of the temperature sensor that says Living Room ESP, 5 seconds ago, 63.3°F. Below is a graph labeled History, 5-minute aggregated. It starts a little before 6pm and goes to about 8am. At the beginning it's a little over 66°F. It drops (with a few spikes) to 64.5°F by 10pm. Then rises to 65°F over a half hour and drops to a steady 63°F by 3AM. Near 8AM it begins to increase again.
The ESP32 + AM2302 works! So far I've only gotten #HomeAssistant to read/write if it's directly connected to the #RaspberryPi via USB but at least it's a start!

I think I did ok on the ESP32s but for the BME280 I ordered the teeny tiny sensors by themselves rather than on little boards so I can connect wires 🤦♂️
I might try to get one of the ESP32s working with an old AM2302 while I wait for BME280s I can use

I learned that when you hit the Up or Down buttons it actually sends a full state for the heat pump (i.e. mode: heat, set point: 72 deg F, fan level: med, fan swing: off). It would be SO MANY codes so I just picked a few temperature + fan settings and called it a day

I got an IR Blaster (i.e. Universal Remote) so that I can have #HomeAssistant control my heat pump.
I thought I'd need to "teach" the IR blaster maybe three codes (Power, Temp Up, Temp Down).
But no... it couldn't be that easy...

My #NFC stickers had already arrived so once HA was up and running I wrote tags on them with the HA app, and placed them near their related task.
Took under 5 minutes to set up the little automations and now I can see if I've done my routines on a dashboard!

So I bought a RPi 5 and that worked right out of the gate!
