The English mayoral devolution system absolutely has its flaws, but comparable devolution at the Scottish municipal-level simply doesn't exist - and we're losing out as a result.

West Midlands will be the 6th UK city-region to bring its bus network back into public control 🚌

The process should be complete by 2029 👏

The reality of the privatisation of essential public services 😠

£3.25 and it's impossible to transfer with your ticket

yes i will moan and moan about public transport in glasgow mostly because of the depressing lack of imagination it shows in the scottish public sphere, that existing infrastructure assets should be so squandered

It's past time we put this failed deregulation experiment to bed. It hasn't improved services or driven down fares. We're held to ransom and forced to pay these exorbitant fares. SPT are blazing a trail, ScotGov needs to recognise this is vital and support them in the budget next week.

Unfair Bus Fares 2026

Today First Glasgow put single fares up to a whopping £3.25, leaving us with some of the most expensive buses in the UK 💸

How can ScotGov allow this blatantly unfair situation to persist? 😤

𝗪𝗲 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗺 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝘂𝗿𝗴𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 by supporting SPT’s plans to take our buses back into public control 💷

Solidarity with the transport workers. Here's hoping that First Bus and the rest of Scotland's private bus operators are gone by the year's end. Privatisation has been bad for riders, bad for the public budget and bad for staff. All power to the @betterbusesspt.bsky.social campaign.

Better buses, more services: £3 billion boost for millions of passengers Multi-year funding gives local authorities the funds they need to provide passengers with lower fares, more frequent and reliable services and safer journeys.
