Performatively reading in the cafe, but wearing white gloves so I'm still venerating the Book As Object, with a t-shirt saying "I know archivists don't wear gloves" so people know the gloves are performative.
I don't know. That first chapter with second language speakers is tough going. π
It was always such a ridiculous song, well meaning (maybe?), but seemingly so much more about the people involved in creating it than the people it was supposed to help. I don't know did it helped at all or just perpetuated myths about "Africa"
I know, it's great, right?
Oooh. Cool!
Yes!!
Remember that libraries are proof that not every goddamned thing needs to be βfor profit.β
The Good Place!
All this #edtech stuff is fine, but what I really want is to be able to mark my students classwork as submitted on Google classroom.
Is that Table Mountain in the background?
That feeling when you're planning out a new unit and you know the students you'll be teaching and it's gonna be so fun! (Also any suggestions for post-colonial texts ex-Things Fall Apart greatly appreciated ππΌ)
Ooh no, never heard of it! Will check it out, thank you!
Rewatching the Good Place. The real trolley problem episode is inspired. I love this show.
Quite Aristotelian π€π
Never.
Handwritten essays and oral assessments?
Just began reading Philip Roth's *The Plot Against America* (@nytimes 100 books of the 21c.) 2004 with very 2024 vibes. π¬.
Agreed, this doesn't seem to capture the main quite ambivalent thrust of the book.
I've been on BS for about two days and already got so many ideas for units, assessments and lessons. Thanks #edusky
Thank you for sharing this - will start developing something like this come Monday! (Since leaving Twitter years ago, I've really missed the inspiring work other teachers are doing! So, thank you)
Visual imagery? π¬
Or as I remind myself when marking student essays: she wrote it when she was NINETEEN!!
But remember: AI is going to save education. (Shhh...no more questions)
Oooh this fun! Thanks for the recommendation.

Hello, new followers! Things are looking bright around here. For all the writers and academics out there, weβre starting the day with some timeless (and hilarious) advice from the brilliant Umberto Eco, from his classic guide "How to Write a Thesis."
It's as bad as the first week of school holidays π
Why do I always get sick after school trips?
Last day of grade 11 field trip to Berlin. What did we learn? Without phones, humans can have deep and interesting conversations at dinner; teach each other cards, create battleships from paper. π¦ π¦ are awesome; two hour walking tours can get chilly. I am so proud of our kids.
Damn. Bravo! ππΌ I'd love to get below 2h by May. Last half was 2:14 and change.
