You are a shooting star, and I earth. You sail on, swashbuckling the night. Others hear your hiss as you arc overhead, taking aim with their quiver of arrows. But I know it’s just you, giggling. The sky your opus, a canvass for your speed-of-light mind. Sometimes you land in the palm of my hand, perch there for a while, sparkling. My own piece of infinity come home. I don’t feel your burn, only your warmth. It’s us: earth and star, safe from the turmoil of this spinning rock. These are the moments I bottle in my heart, carved by time for mothers and sons.
