People talk about this stuff in terms of how much it'll suck for gaming and I hate to inform you how many MRI machines, X-Rays, all sorts of other vital machinery are just a Windows IoT Edition PC in a beige plastic box with a big magnet/accelerator/whatever attached.

Disability = mismatched interaction between capability and barrier.

There are days when everything feels heavy.π
Yesterday was one of those days. No donations came, and the rent deadline is getting closer.
Β£246 remains.
It may seem like a small number to some, but to us, it means stability, sleep, and not having to pack our lives again.β€οΈ

Still need to put in the bulk medicine orders!
Was able to get the immediate critical supplies with a clutch donation last night, BUT the longer we wait the more likely we will have to spend more locally before the shipment arrives.
Anything helps! πβοΈππΈπ³ββ§βΏπ

A remember to all to not buy AI-written yokai books!
There are so many great books on yokai written by humans, like Zack's translation of Mizuki below. My own books, of course, and books by other flesh-and-blood authors.
We work hard to make sure you get real information, not hallucinated slop.

REMEMBER: All the "Don't use em-dashes" "don't use rule of three" advice because it makes your writing "look like AI" is because they stole actual writers work, and their "predict the next thing" stuff just simulates what WE FUCKING DO. Keep writing well. Use every style and trick you have. Fuck AI.

I'm not deeply religious and struggle to trust any catholic church I can find here, but I do think that I get a great deal of spiritual benefit from lent. I'll probably do it.

Previous years I've passed on alcohol and caffeine and stayed off twitter for the duration. I'm off twitter completely now but I think I'll do the same and replace staying off twitter with staying off bluesky.

I didn't really have a think if I was doing lent this year or not. I didn't last year, but I think that it did me good to do it the years I did and with the loss if Chi, I think it's worth having this moment of reset.

Sydney author guilty of child abuse after book, Daddyβs Little Toy, depicted adult role-playing as toddler
Christian charity executive, Lauren Mastrosa, pen name Tori Woods, found to have written novel that βsexually objectifies childrenβ
I'm following with interest the case of a fiction writer being criminalised for writing words in Australia and I do wonder whether white smut writers who prop up AO3 will speak up in her defense. (As they fucking well should, to be clear.)

When we started calling out the "boys club" environment that allowed mysoginy and homophobia to go unaddressed. When we started discussing and educating on microagressions and prejudice and casual bigotry.

As a side thought: Yknow thinking about it, I feel like a lot of this "return to glory days" talk started implicitly when marginalised people in the industry started speaking up publicly about how we've been (mis)treated, belittled, cast aside, silenced.

The people responsible for our unstable industry have names and addresses and enough money to not care if what they've built crumbles because they'll be fine no matter how much they fuck up. We won't be unless we collectively pressure them to make sure we are.

This is maybe a longer, more rambling, and more musing thread than I've seen on the matter, but I think it's so important to name what is happening, especially now as people are losing their jobs every week and we all wonder if we are the next in line and what will we do when it's our turn.

It's a capitalism issue not a specific gamedev issue. There needs to be a collective movement of all workers across industries to support each other in bettering condition by holding destructive management accountable.

They talk of "returning to the glory days" without considering that what made glory then doesn't now. They don't consider or care that this "glory days" where when men didn't spend time with their kids, women were not respected, disabled and queer people were expected to shut up about it.
