I'm not deeply religious and struggle to trust any catholic church I can find here, but I do think that I get a great deal of spiritual benefit from lent. I'll probably do it.

Previous years I've passed on alcohol and caffeine and stayed off twitter for the duration. I'm off twitter completely now but I think I'll do the same and replace staying off twitter with staying off bluesky.

Food for thoughts on what the "glory days" really were.
When we started calling out the "boys club" environment that allowed mysoginy and homophobia to go unaddressed. When we started discussing and educating on microagressions and prejudice and casual bigotry.
As a side thought: Yknow thinking about it, I feel like a lot of this "return to glory days" talk started implicitly when marginalised people in the industry started speaking up publicly about how we've been (mis)treated, belittled, cast aside, silenced.
The people responsible for our unstable industry have names and addresses and enough money to not care if what they've built crumbles because they'll be fine no matter how much they fuck up. We won't be unless we collectively pressure them to make sure we are.
This is maybe a longer, more rambling, and more musing thread than I've seen on the matter, but I think it's so important to name what is happening, especially now as people are losing their jobs every week and we all wonder if we are the next in line and what will we do when it's our turn.
It's a capitalism issue not a specific gamedev issue. There needs to be a collective movement of all workers across industries to support each other in bettering condition by holding destructive management accountable.
The only people making money are landlords and c-suites and company owners. Shareholders are getting paid before producing staff are.
And now they are in the same shit situation as me, because not everyone who lived those "glory days" got to become big names, most got to become a senior programmer and that's it.
I've heard from people who have been in this industry in those "glory days". The glory they got was divorce, burn out, injuries because crunch took over their lives.
They talk of "returning to the glory days" without considering that what made glory then doesn't now. They don't consider or care that this "glory days" where when men didn't spend time with their kids, women were not respected, disabled and queer people were expected to shut up about it.
