What's scary about this story is the surveillance it hints at. This trans woman had changed her name, legally, but chose not to change her gender marker. She was apparently flagged in the DMV system as trans and her license was invalidated under a law that supposedly only concerned gender markers.
I read through hundreds of emails and scoured through years of correspondence and background information to write this 4600 word report.

PRESS RELEASE: WILSON COUNTY JUDGE LEA COLLABORATES WITH ICE Judge Lea reads list provided by ICE, ICE agents escort people out of Wilson County courtroom Monday, March 2, 2026, Lebanon TN Today, various volunteers of Music City Migra Watch witnessed Judge Jimmy Lea from Wilson County read a list of Latino-sounding last names of people present for their court cases. According to volunteers, Judge Lea shared that the list was provided by ICE. After the list was read, one ICE agent escorted the people out of the courtroom. Volunteers report that somewhere between 15 and 20 people were taken by ICE Gisselle Huerta, who was sitting in Judge Lea's courtroom, shares, "They are taking people who were there for expired tags, they took someone, even though he has a valid driver's license and work permit, he was taken". Huerta says, "The judge kept saying that they wanted to avoid chaos in the street... Judge Lea didn't even see them for their traffic violation; he just handed people off to ICE. Is the Wilson court now operating as an immigration court? Do people who are doing right by showing up to their court dates need to bring immigration representation?" Ashley Warbington, who was also present in Judge Lea's courtroom, shares, "I listened as he read off 30 names. At least 14 people were present and stepped forward to stand before him. He told them that immigration needed to speak with each and every one of them. He (Judge Lea) also said he allows immigration officers inside the courtroom because he does not want chaos in the hallway or parking lot, and that handling it this way avoids that chaos." For the past several weeks, MCMW volunteers have seen ICE agents in the Wilson Courts on Mondays and have received reports of ICE in courtrooms on Thursdays. In the last weeks, the people of Wilson County challenged the building of a detention center we urge the people of Wilson County to demand transparency in Judge Lea's courtroom.
