i haven't been doing too well
Even FA still gets a lot of traffic, but not a lot of activity? Like when I first joined I was heartened that people actually left comments, and that fell off dramatically years ago. I appreciate that creatives have made an effort to engage more w each other on here at least.
Nah, I totally agree and it's part of what I meant to get at. People are too used to being able to have everything in one convenient hub, including us as artists.
that we don't have time/energy to devote to an art community for the sake of it. I've seen complaints about how people don't do tutorials and resources and stuff for free like they did on dA, and it's like... I wish I could!! Unfortunately I need to eat!!
I agree, and also don't know if there's a good solution. I think gallery sites that don't already have renown (ie FA) tend to die off pretty quick because they don't catch on with a general audience, and therefore clients/customers. So probably a big part of the issue is we're all stretched so thin-

Knit Buffaloβs Felted Buffalo
Last fall I sold at my first local event since moving to upstate New York, and there I connected with a fellow fiber enthusiast who travels the region selling hand dyed yarn and fiber out of a yarn van! She commissioned a little friend to travel along with the van
I think balance really just is it. I don't want to be hypocritical as they make up a decent chunk of my income atp, but I'm definitely trying to figure out how to transition away from using lots of plastic when it seems like the trend is strongly in the opposite direction...
Been struggling a lot the last few weeks, but I can feel the approach of spring starting to energize me a bit, even if it's currently snowing. Excited for things to green up, even if my allergies don't agree.
a painting of a man lifting a sylveon by the armpits
Long, firm, tubular body, DEEP blue eyes, really wonderful expression. he is so calm, confident, really in charge here. Big, bouncy ears, perfectly set, a slender, whippy tail, and of course, those smooth, vibrant ribbons. Best in show.
A little indulgent hehe but i made a pokesona! A sylveon and leafeon fusion bc i couldnt pick between them!! Begonia! Based on my irl begonia plant :3c

A fish eye pov of a person wearing a fursuit head and paws. The style consists of a graphic quality with a red, green, and teal palette. The fursuiter holds their paws over their head in a "rawr" formation
Channelling the late 2000s, early 2010s. Maybe a little glomp as a little treat
Also, fwiw, growing native plants can look very different regionally, especially if you're at risk for something like brush fires. I won't pretend to know much about it outside of my region, but I still recommend trying to grow a plant or two!
I won't pretend that gardening in general is often disability-friendly, BUT many native perennials - in my area at least - need very little care once established. I still struggle with invasive weeds, esp if I can't keep at it consistently, but my plants need little watering, fertilizing or pruning.
I can't overstate how rewarding of an interest native plant gardening has been for me. While there's much to consider, which is why lrp is a long read, I think just a couple carefully chosen-plants can make a difference.
Are you in North America, and want to try growing native plants in your garden, yard, public park, community space, or in containers on a balcony / porch? I've made a beginner's guide! It's long but I wanted to share all the info I have. Please consider trying.

it fascinates me how it's been mismanaged in like 12 different ways at this point, and yet it seems to be unkillable. granted, i haven't kept up with the newest team's endeavors much, but it sure did survive like 5 different corporate owners, scientologists, and the death of flash
