New Yearβs resolution? Write a bestseller, retire to the beach and enjoy the waves as I fan myself with large bundles of cash. Or, you know, maybe meet my daily word count at least a few times a week, whichever comes first π

Writing late at night is always fun because when you wake up and read it itβs either surprisingly good or the most bat shit word stew youβve ever seen and there is no in between
I will not make this next projectβs title a punβ¦ I will not make this next projectβs title a punβ¦ I will notβ¦
Welp, looks like AI generated garbage is on its way to over saturate the book market. On the plus side theyβll never be able to replicate the one true human experience: pure cringe. Look out world, thereβs nothing left to keep my unadulterated thoughts off the page ππ
Just finished watching Arcane, and as a writer I can only hope to one day create something that breaks my readerβs hearts as beautifully as mine has been broken πβ€οΈ

I saw a post not too long ago where someone was complaining about how every horror protagonist is either a YouTuber or a podcaster and honestly? I think itβs just the signs of the times. How many old horror classics featured writers as the main character? The tropes they are a changin π€·ββοΈ
I mean who else is going to spend their time turning over rocks in a haunted shipwreck or something? Us normal folks donβt have the time or money for spooky adventures π

A reminder as winter approaches: remember to leave your windows unlocked so the local cryptids and spooks can enter your homes more easily, the unknowable horrors of the night get cold too
Tries blue corn for the first time. βOoh, thatβs got a delightful little crunch to it.β Looks down at the cob, only to discover the βknobsβ are actually an assortment of blue and black shelled beetles scuttling across my hands. βHuh, interesting flavor.β Shrugs and leans in to take another bite
Look man, Iβm just here to procrastinate on my writing, not to get called out like this ππ
Finishing the first draft of a project: βThis is the best work Iβve ever doneβ π₯³π₯°π
Reading the same draft about a week later:
If you ever find yourself lacking inspiration for your next horror story look up some facts about deep sea wildlife. From eels who spend their days burrowing through dead meat to squids with eyes bigger than dinner plates, the ocean is the warm soup from which all terrors crawl out of
Iβve been interested in reading more fantasy but Iβm having a hard time finding something with a more βadultβ feel that doesnβt delve straight into smut, anybody have any suggestions? I read mostly horror so dark fantasy seems to be a good starting place, but Iβm not picky
Thereβs an odd sense of comfort to be found in the horror genre. In this uncertain world we live in it feels good to find that some evils can be beat. Vampires fall to the sun, werewolves to silver, it reminds us that real world evil cannot last, so long as there are those brave enough to face it

One of my favorite things about writing is how much freedom you can give yourself to learn. I feel like once you become an adult not knowing the answer becomes this terrible thing, but when Iβm writing I can allow myself to be curious.
A match made in monster fu*ker heaven lol π (In all seriousness though the pain is real)
Itβs so funny to me hearing other writers talk about how they canβt even start a project without names for like 15 of their characters and Iβm over here like, βthis is Bob McPlaceholder, the main POV and his associates Friend 1 and Love Interest 2β π
Considering throwing out my current WIP in favor of a properly shloppy 80s inspired gore fest with all the classic cheesiness baked in. God knows Iβve been taking myself far too seriously lately
When you accidentally drop a potato into a horror story thatβs quite fry-htening
Me using the same word two sentences in a row: π± Me using the word βsaidβ:
I usually put in a placeholder (MC for Main Character or LI for Love Interest for example) until inspiration hits or their vibe speaks their name into existence
Hey Monster Mashers! Who do you think wins in an all out brawl between these two? The embodiment of regret or the personification of fear?
(Certainly no hidden agenda related to a writing project or anything π«£)
Finally sitting down at the computer to write at 1:13 in the morning because the words arenβt going to type themselves
I know itβs kinda side stepping βthe point,β but all Iβm saying is that Silent Hill would have never been overrun by hellish creatures from the subconscious if theyβd put in a Waffle House downtown #silenthill #wafflehouse
Good enough? Thatβs all you need friend. It only takes 3 things, desire, a lakeβs worth of coffee, and a small sprinkling of self hatred from the author to write a decent book π
Iβd sure like to read right now but nothing sounds super engaging *glances nervously at 75+ TBR pile behind me* Anybody have suggestions for something light/easy to get me in the proper mood?
