The revised and current NHS approach is explicitly NOT affirming. It's predicated upon being trans as being problemstic in of itself
Politicians back it but scientists and medics with knowledge in the field don't, and neither do trans people with lived experience. Read the resources page I linked above, it gives references to peer reviewed research papers explaining how badly Cass erred, how and why
What's the betting on Labour overriding the amendment back in the Commons?
Your implication is that kids presenting with those items listed weren't assessed, & those needs addressed, which is far from the reality. The new regime seeks to identify 'issues' in order to preclude transition in any form, even issues actually due to not being allowed to transition, even socially
The idea that the, now discontinued, system wasn't already deliberately slow and choc full of assessments is either naive or disingenuous. The new system also brings every tool to bear down upon children to make them conform to a cis ideal at any cost (to the kid). NHS branded conversion practices π€¬
Snap, same. ( thankfully depression is long in the past for me and I hope it becomes so for you)
Cass considers persistence in being trans to be a negative outcome. She expressed dismay that the vast majority of those who had been on pb went onto HRT afterwards, after years of assessments and counselling designed to dissuade all but the most hardy/persistent kids

"This new guidance by the Scottish government highlights how much the gender critical use hyperbole, fear and a distortion of facts to terrify other parents into preventing their child from receiving the healthcare they need."

NYT 'journalism'
Here's hoping it's not too far into the future that the trans panic is recognised for what it is, beyond it's victims
Great to see that he's still allowed to do accurate and positive journalism on us, in the Guardian of all places ππ»
'trans issues' is nearly as bad because it implies issues caused by trans people when the reality is issues caused FOR trans people by Gender Conservative Ideology activists such as Sex Matters and their evangelical/right-wing backers
Westminster Meeting House raided by Metropolitan Police again. Statement: βFor Quakers, faith and action are inseparable. Peaceful protest, prayer and nonviolent action are integral parts of many Quakers' religious life. Whilst we take the planning of criminal acts very seriously, we believe that this incident is a deliberate targeting of committed young people who want to make our country a more equitable place. This raid is part of a systematic stifling of dissent. That this is the second time in a year that the police have raided our meeting house dramatically illuminates the broader trend in the UK of cracking down on those who disagree with the government. The right to protest is fundamental to our democracy. It's a key part of how people make their voices heard between elections.β β Oliver Robertson, Head of Witness and Worship Quakers in Britain, 5 March 2026
Yesterday evening, for the second time in a year, the Met Police raided Westminster Quaker Meeting House and arrested a number of young nonviolent activists.

Left can't resist being on wrong side of a war Whether it's Jeremy Corbyn or Zack Polanski, their foreign policy stances terrify voters outside core supporters
Well, hereβs the thing about being antiwar as an ethical belief: it means you end up opposing most wars. Almost all of them, in fact. This is quite common in people who have consistent beliefs but looks insane to people who have none, or mostly just believe superior people should make the decisions.
Exclusive: the progressive voters abandoning Labour Daily Politics Daily Politics from the New Statesman > Ω Ω‘Ω Ω Ω Ω β’ 17m Labour is losing the voters it used to count on, a new study reveals. In the aftermath of the Green Party's triumph in the Gorton and Denton by-election, and with local elections in London councils and other major cities coming up, Labour is losing the left progressive voters it could once rely on having "nowhere else to go". Now, the biggest study ever of these voters - shared exclusively with the New Statesman - reveals the true risk to Labour's future of leaving them behind. This work, done by surveying 10,000 voters and a randomised control trial style approach, has found out who the so-called progressive defectors are, why they're deserting Labour, and what impact this could have on Labour's electoral prospects.
Worrying news at the NS podcast, where the lads have discovered millions of younger, mostly educated left/lib people get all upset and offended if you relentlessly insult them, tell them to fuck off and implement policies that they find appalling.

NEW ANALYSIS: UK emissions fell 2.4% in 2025 as coal fell to a 400-year low. Incredibly, we used less coal last year than than in 1600, when Queen Elizabeth I was on the throne and Shakespeare was writing Hamlet.
