I would definitely have learned more in college if I started taking classes when I was older ๐, but then again, being a student helped me develop those skills.
I just used different ways to get students to understand the material. Small group work was better, and we analyzed the parts and how they make the whole poem. I coukdn't give up if they came in without a skill I never taught them. Baby steps to literacy.
I once asked my community college English students to read poems out loud. Very few had done the reading homework, so I thought we could read and analyze together!
Nope.
Some of them struggled so much. I felt bad for putting them on the spot. I NEVER did that again. Reading is old school wizardry.

I deactivated my #bluesky account for a few days to clear my brain, but I am glad to be back. I do think the algorithm is a little addictive. That I am following 10k people doesn't really help!

I wonder, too, about people who use their energy for that. You could be listening to music or walking your dog or planting a tree instead of yelling at strangers.
