I've been busy lately with family stuff and our year end show @ the Grand. My 2 classes and my solo coaching student did a FANTASTIC job dancing my Tamra Henna, Aziza, and Drum Solo. And now, a summer off!

This is a stupid problem to whine about while the world is on fire, but I had to put my disappointment somewhere. Holding an earring funeral seems a bit much. Also, I should maybe work on my tendency to get very attached to things & never change. Boooooooooooooo.
I don't even own other eyelets or plugs, that's how attached I am. So now, while I wait for the new set (which are lotus eyelets, because they didn't have Afghans in my size), I just swap the one remaining eyelet back & forth twice a day so my right ear doesn't tighten up too much. Again, boo.
I'm a creature of habit.
I've been wearing the same 2g Afghan eyelets from Tawapa for almost 20 years. Every day.
Today, I finally lost one.
It just fell out, and I don't know where or when.
I've ordered new ones, but I'm sad. They've been in my ears for over 2 decades. Boooo.
I don't take many selfies, let alone selfies at gigs. But as I watched my daughter's eyes sparkle this evening when she saw me in costume, I realized these days won't last forever. So here's a cheesy selfie between sets, a bit sweaty, and my skirt is wrinkled. Cheeeese.

Gig reality: I'm sitting in a posh hotel room between sets. I brought a rice krispie square to snack on. I take a graceless bite, & there's a knock - the concierge has brought me a platter of Moroccan dishes. My mouth is full, but I squeak out "OMGNOWAY".
I am grace personified. Pure class.

Hey, in case you were thinking about having kids, I just want you to know that I've got a gig coming up that starts after 9pm and I'm basically training myself in advance to stay up that late because I haven't slept like a proper human since I was 4 months pregnant in 2020. Ok, good luck.
I'm having a ton of fun preparing for my students' year end show (yes, it's not until May, but it's still fun). I've got mixed levels doing a drum solo, advanced students doing a golden age piece, and my private student preparing her first solo. It's dance teacher heaven around here!

US dancers, how are you feeling about the #tiktok ban? I never used it personally, but what alternative are you going to use now, if any?
Yes, I think it's early days yet. This particular platform doesn't really serve the same self-promo function that the Meta ones do, so time will tell if it's a waiting room for something better! Hopefully as more of us explore our options we can find each other.

I use Apple for everything creative, Android for phone/personal, and a PC for gaming. For me, there's no perfect single system yet, but when it comes to media & creativity, Apple can't be beat (for me).
Because when it comes to women's health care, we need to think about men's needs. 🙃

I'm hoping with the growing exodus from Meta that more dancers will come over! I remember the big migration from Tribe back in the early 2000's, and hopefully we can get a similar switchover here soon.
