Happy Pride Month!
Las Culturistas has been feeding me well lately with their guests. First, Lady Gaga. And then, Cate Blanchett. Thank you!
eggs in Japan are about $2 for 10 eggs now.
About 2 USD for the price of 10 eggs where I live in Japan.
I've just been thinking about wanting to watch all seasons of the original Melrose Place. But all streaming services that I'm currently subscribed to don't have it, and I don't want to subscribe to any more. What to do what to do?!?
Yu Miri's book entitled "Tokyo Ueno Station"
I finished reading my third all-in-Japanese book. In English, it's "Tokyo Ueno Station" by Yu Miri. I love reading and I thought about how I first started reading my first English books- not understanding everything, but just relishing the act of reading. I read Japanese books in that same spirit.
How do I feel about my marriage not being recognized in Japan? It's unfair AF. Example: I can't get a spouse visa to legally reside here. Change is happening REALLY slowly in Japan. But I hope my marriage will be recognized someday. Until then, I'm just happy to not get explicitly discriminated on.
Thanks for the book recommendation. On my queue!
Sometimes I miss my salary in the US. I got paid 3x more than here in Japan, and now with the weak yen, it feels like more. Can't spend frivolously anymore. I've had to rethink happiness. Appreciate smaller moments, food, a good book/graphic novel. I like my life now, but I wish I got paid more.
Walking in winter is invigorating.
I didnβt expect to like snowy winters this much. The sound of stepping on snow and ice. Having to walk intentionally or else you have the potential to slip. Bundling up. Stark white views relaxing you.
If you'd like to talk about it, let me know.
A bit unrelated, but one of my goals this year is to get back to that same level of obsession and reverence to something/anything now as I had when I was a kid.
In a Nagoya hotel room watching the electroral votes come in that showed Trump was going to become the President after all news outlets predicted a Clinton victory was when I decided that I needed an plan to exit the US.
On Saturday, it was cool to see a group of Vietnamese people snowboarding down a hill wearing traditional garb in celebration of Tet.
