Hereβs a little sequence from my pinball machine, where you can bother Grimey by going around Sector 7G.
Hereβs a little sequence from my pinball machine, where you can bother Grimey by going around Sector 7G.
Between the arcade cab and the pinball machine, I have unintentionally built myself a Simpsons shrine
My pinball machine is in its natural habitat today. An arcade!
Me and my finished homemade pinball machine will be at 8-BIT BEANS arcade all day this Sunday! Come out and play if youβre local to Durham Region (Ontario, Canada)!
@chaddundas.bsky.social Thanks for the shout out about the pinball machine! Games shall be free for your son, to honor his achievement of beating the Simpsons arcade! (Assuming we ever cross paths IRL. There is an arcade & pinball show in Tacoma, WA that I want to drive my machine to one year.)
Haha I too donβt like the term βhomebrew.β Makes it seem like the output could never rise to a professional level. Also, youβre totally right about the white-dudes-30s-50s thing, lol
Hereβs a flythru of the now-completed pinball machine. Almost 2 years to the day since I started the project!
First game honors of the now-fully-built pinball machine of course goes to my son
I will check these for sure. So many more options in the US. Thanks!
Haha, well thatβd sure make for a grand entrance!
Iβm gonna try and get the game out to Chicago next year. And who knows, maybe another spot will pop up!
Up here in Ontario, Canada! The only pinball show in my area.
Thanks a lot! I actually did bring it (without playfield art) to Ontario Pinfest in June, and it went over quite well! I wouldβve loved to take it to Chicago in October, but happen to be travelling with the family then. Itβs definitely a goal of mine to get this game out there though.
Haha - itβs on the same wavelength as that! Lighting Barney allows you to drink double the amount of Duffs at Moeβs (which itself is a number that you collect and increase throughout the game.)
A photo of my home made Simpsons pinball playfield, now with full artwork and playfield items, sitting fully assembled on a workbench
And the playfield is finally reassembled. Now to get someone to come over and help me lift it back into the cabinet.
Scrubbing this playfield until it shines
Edges practices from the one and only @marcobucci.bsky.social. Environments are not really my thing, but I tried to focus on what the lesson was about: the use of sharp and diffuse edges on a piece of art to lead the attention of the viewer.

Daammn that is beautiful! What a project!
I hadnβt heard about those projects! Super cool. Hereβs Stones βN Bones:

Thanks!!
Haha, same. Iβm considering the idea of making/adapting Stones βN Bones to a physical machine for the next custom build. Would need a bunch of updating to feel more modern and full-featured, but itβs a great game at its core!
Thanks a lot!
@cpi.pinball.horse out of curiosity, did you ever play Pinball Fantasies (DOS game, 1994)?
The clearcoat is finally cured, and most of the playfield is reassembled. Tomorrow is polishing and waxing, then the two wireforms can go back onβ¦ then I think itβs DONE-done! #pinball
Itβs coming back together!
Some more value practices.
This time, I followed @marcobucci.bsky.social's lesson and then made a male version of my own. Incredible artist and teacher, in case you didn't know him:

And of course itβs called βAlpha School.β Sigh.
Iβm liking the brushwork!
english gonna english
