Four images showing the making of elderberry syrup.
Tried my hand at foraging today. Lovely ripe elderberries from the local park. Added fresh ginger, cinnamon and honey. Made just under 500ml. Yummy. π±

Thanks, I did mention it to the fair Caroline a few weeks ago so assumed sheβd tell you!
The Lizzano cherry toms are the earliest cropping and the tastiest tomatoes weβve ever grown, super sweet π π±
Super excited for the tomato harvest thatβs just starting. Weβve got Lizzano cherry toms in hanging baskets and gardeners delight, crimson crush and marmande in the polytunnel π π±
At the moment Iβm having a break and spending more time looking after my allotment and myself π§‘
First cabbage of 2025! π±
Yesterday was my last day at the University of Liverpool after 20 incredible years. Weβve still got some papers to finish so watch this space for updates. Now, to the allotment!
From the allotment - potatoes, blackberries, lettuce, runner beans, courgettes, cucumber, tomatoes, sweet peas
Nice haul for a Friday at the allotment - new potatoes, blackberries, lettuce, runner beans, tomatoes, courgettes, cucumber, sweet peas π±
Thrilled to receive the βMentorβ award at @livuni-ilcams.bsky.social away day. Supporting the next generation of scientists has always been incredibly important to me, and itβs lovely to be nominated so THANK YOU if you were one of the people who put me forward for this award.
The kale was passed to us by an allotment holder and I though the same, but itβs actually delicious
Rather you than me π (and I do love Stilton)
My husband made it. It was white onion, 2 cloves garlic, 3 fairly large courgettes, stock, Philadelphia cheese (about a third of a tub), salt & pepper. I whizzed it up and took all the credit π The kale was just chopped and steamed.

Nature is beautiful. This gorgeous poppy is growing in a tiny patch of soil in a messy corner of the allotment, on top of old bits of plastic and stones. Self seeded. Absolutely stunning. πΊπ±
About 15 years ago we were in Liverpool centre & Robinsons fruit juice were giving away black currant bushes. Canβt remember why. Anyway, weβve lovingly cared for βBenβ since and today we had our first harvest! π«
