💚 We left the GKN factory grateful, moved, and with a reminder that hope is not passive - it's something people like the GKN Collective keep alive every single day.

The struggle of the GKN workers goes far beyond simply reclaiming their rights and jobs. It speaks to something much bigger: a just green transition, democracy, and social justice.

In 2021, workers were abruptly pushed out of their jobs with no explanation. Rather than accepting an unjust decision, they collectivised to propose a sustainable, worker-led industrial transition ✊

✨ Day 3 of #GreenhouseTraining was a special one!

We took the training out of the room to ground ourselves in the local context, where we had the privilege of meeting a collective of workers at the GKN Factory in Campi Bisenzio.

Participants filled the timeline of #GreenHistory with examples from their own countries and the takeaway? Demand for democratisation whatever we do - of science, of tech, and the world we want - with that spirit, we head into the next days! 🌱

🔎 From the past, we turned to the present, exploring the challenges our countries face at the intersection of Technology and Democracy. Participants delved into the approaches and perspectives needed to respond to today’s technological and democratic landscape.

Edouard Gaudot, trainer, historian, and writer, set the scene by walking us through a timeline with some key milestones in Green history across Europe. And as he put it, "great conquests are all rooted in social movements", a reminder of how powerful this collective journey is.

A European Wellbeing Economy - avenues for political action - IEEP AISBL This briefing provides policy makers and other stakeholders with ambitious and actionable policy tools and recommendations to foster sustainable and inclusive wellbeing in the EU. The publication is the fruit of a series of knowledge community meetings held between May and November 2024 with experts from EU institutions, think tanks, academia, and NGOs.
