A poem titled *To be held* by Hannah Eve Levy. The poem describes a moment where the speaker's child finds a crushed monarch butterfly on the street and cradles it gently. The child asks, *Can we save it?*, prompting the speaker to experience a wave of panic and grief. Despite their hesitation, they respond with, *maybe we can try, maybe, we can try.* The poem concludes with the longing for all broken things to be held with such tenderness. The text is formatted with italicized and indented lines to emphasize certain phrases.
"I want everything that is broken to be held with this kind of love."
Earnest post, but: a thing I like here is itβs okay to have moments of happiness in public without being broadly scolded, and I believe that sustaining this kind of humanity will be very important as we resist fascism.
We have to sustain each other. Making joy isnβt denial, itβs how we will survive
And! Regenerative Futures is still active and accepting submissions: open.substack.com/pub/regenera...
I think I have quite a high tolerance to winter but January is definitely the cruellest month, I donβt know what TS Eliot was on about
Update: I decided to migrate to a new publication open.substack.com/pub/clayande...
