the poli sci guy jumps in to defend the philosophers and even manages to use the word ‘ontology’ correctly. A third person begins their comment with “I’m not good at math, but…”. All that is learned is that everyone fundamentally disagrees about everything and then they all amicably go out to dinner
you gotta love those classic meetings between economists and philosophers where the philosophers are like hey we really should accept a preference view of utilities in order to make our modeling decisions make sense & the economists are like why would we equate people’s utilities with what they want
