I've got a new chapter out today in College Sports Ethics from @bloomsburyacad.bsky.social. The chapter is called "Sooner or Later: Changing Team Names and Mascots" and it's focused on how institutions should respond to calls for change, using my alma mater as an extended case study.

Yesterday, I tried to pick up a plate after having toast. The residual butter from the toast on the plate coated my digits as I picked it up and the plate slipped from my grip, falling back to the tray.

For the first time in my life, I dropped something because of my literal butterfingers.

whenever young people ask me for advice, i always recommend that they carry some cash on them. it's easy to understand why they don't, since almost everything now can be bought with a credit card or a mobile app. but what it means for me is that they're more difficult to hold up and rob in the park
