It feels like the label content has been wrongly applied to actual human creativity for years (when the epithet 'content creators' started to be applied to YT and Insta video makers) and has only now found it's true home as a label for AI generated things.

32 of 36: The Ghost in the MP3 (2014) RYAN MAGUIRE
YouTube video by Museum of Portable Sound
This is one of the most revelatory and inspiring things I've heard recently - a reverse engineered version of Suzanne Vega's song 'Tom's Diner,' revealing all the sounds stripped out when encoded to an MP3.

More Nature Songs - Eohippus
YouTube video by vektorgt
To my shame, I've never seen that film! He's very cute. Ray knew his stuff, shooting on film with no video assist, having to wait til the end of the week to get the film back from Boots to see if it came out ok. The only other place I've come across an eohippus is this song which is nice

All 2.4m of Britainβs creative workers are at risk β and we know why
A new report into the impact of AI on the creative sector makes for apocalyptic reading. The government must act now
'the UK creative industries β which contributed Β£125 billion to the economy in 2024 and supported 2.4 million jobs β are being destroyed by an AI sector that... contributed just Β£11 billion in the same year and supported only 85,000 jobs." www.thetimes.com/culture/film...

My dad abhors any negative comments about immigrants. Asked him recently why heβs so strong on it: βBecause weβre always happy to take the rich and clever ones. Which means itβs not about disliking immigrants. Itβs about disliking the poor and vulnerable. And thatβs a bad human instinct.β

This from the latest @bylinetimes.bsky.social in an article by Mic Wright about a Spectator awards bash, where the key awards went to the most far right politicians to honour their racism & intolerance. And yet, there are Labour people attending, validating & normalising this far right publicationβ¦

π¬ The arts arenβt a luxury - theyβre an export.
At #Lab25, @aiannucci.bsky.social reminds us that the UKβs Creative Industries make up 6% of our economy and 7% of our workforce - the GDP equivalent of oil + car industries combined.

Today is a day when arts degrees are worthless, but the product of those degrees is so valuable it would kill an entire industry if they were made to pay for it.
