Another fun story about the current grant situation. I applied for a modest sum in response to a call from a foundation. Apparently, they received more than 1000 applications, and they award only a few per call, so the funding rate is lower than 1%.

This paper had a pretty shocking headline result (40% of voxels!), so I dug into it, and I think it is wrong. Essentially: they compare two noisy measures and find that about 40% of voxels have different sign between the two. I think this is just noise!

The party drug MDMA (“ecstasy”) shows promising efficacy as adjunct to psychotherapy. The psychostimulant with entactogenic properties is known to induce arousal and euphoria. We now studied the neurochemistry underlying the behavioral effects of MDMA in rats lacking serotonin in the brain.
So cool to be included in this project showing that overgeneralization of threat responses learned by observation predicted higher anxiety symptoms in adolescents during wartime. All the credits go to Yoni Fishman and Tomer Shechner's Team
