No question misinformation in the social media space is problematic
But there's also misinformation coming from leading consumer brands like Virgin and Renault
They continuing to advertise using green claims the Advertising Standards Authority told them not to

Most of the 20,000-odd former landfill sites are likely to be quite safe… but some could be quite sinister

New investigation reveals how climate-linked flooding could spread toxic pollution from historic landfills across land and water. The question is, who pays to clean it up?

Populist leaders are brilliant at exploiting this.
British oil giant Shell is shipping gas from Russia relying on ice breakers subject to international sanctions....
This is not an ideal look surely
Another week coming up of seemingly endless grey still days in London. Is it just me, it could be, or has this kind of thing been more common this winter and could it be linked to climate change?
When is Carol singing potentially illegal? When it's also a UK climate protest.

Hello wonderful people of Bluesky. I've heard anecdotally that the storms and flooding (and inadequate defences) are driving support for Reform, is there any data out there about that - or in general about how people are responding politically?
Powerful soya producer associations, dominated by big farmers, threaten the most successful intervention to prevent Amazon deforestation - a global corporate agreement not to buy or sell soya from deforested land

Mapped: Where we send pesticides too toxic to use at home
"Farmers in Brazil told Unearthed.. how they experienced symptoms including tremors, temporary paralysis, and permanent eye damage after being accidentally exposed to Syngenta-produced weedkiller diquat, which became the UK’s biggest banned pesticide export for the first time last year."
The UK - like other western countries - bans pesticides at home because they harm humans and the environment (including Bees) and then exports them around the world.
Brilliant expose by @unearthednews.bsky.social on this neo-colonial and mind-bendingly stupid practice.
I don't think this is fair. Starmer said before entering office that clean power would involve having gas plants on standby for backup; yearly climatic variance requires a buffer of up to 5% of demand based on NESO's work. There will be years they are not needed and years when they're needed a lot.

This should be front page news everywhere.
I don't expect much coverage.
Atlantic sea temperatures way above normal as the UK is battered first by Storm Bert and now (to a lesser extent) by storm Connall
As autumn and winter turn into a deluge we probably need to talk a bit more about why this is happening & who pays for it.

A question. The days of the "green new deal", even "build back better" seem a long time ago now, though many of the ideas are still vital.
But if you were asked by a friend what big political, social or economic idea you think could win people's support and tackle climate change what would you say?

Major UK Van plant set to close as firms appear to time news to pile pressure on the government over electric vehicle rules.

Done.
Something important to remember is that Bluesky has no main algorithm - which means the best way to engage here is by liking and reposting my posts. Not anyone else's. Just mine.
As the costs of flood damage and flood protection mount the question over whether oil and gas firms should pay is... not yet being asked.
