Sometimes (often) I think that rather than the annual ridiculous and performative hashtag autism awareness, we would be better off with education around ~Ableism Awareness~ instead.
Ableism seems to be the last acceptable bigotry.
It is rarely even recognised, and gets pushback even less often.
I don't think people often get what it's like to be a neurodivergent. I don't get why it's easier look away or lock us in mental health wards(2000+ now), or ignore it or dismiss it or restrict care. I don't get how society is so unmoved by this ⬇️
