An orange box, "Fastball Flakes", Justin Verlander throwing a pitch, and a spoon filled with frosted corn flakes
Fastball Flakes (2012-2012): Following his Cy Young and MVP-winning 2011 season, then-Tigers pitcher Justin Verlander received his own cereal, frosted corn flakes. It was sold exclusively in Michigan Meijer stores, with proceeds going to Detroit-area VA hospitals
Idk, I just think that a team leading the league in wins and deciding to get worse next year by trading away controllable, pre arb guys should get as much or more scorn than the Dodgers, even if (like what the Dodgers do) it leads to more wins during the season
I will probably be proven wrong, cause this is what the Brewers do. They'll probably make Harrison and Zerpa into good pitchers. Williams probably gives you what Durbin did soon, even if not right away. But this team led MLB in wins last year and is trading useful guys for (on paper) mid returns
Like the Freddy Peralta trade is exactly the kind of trade the Brewers always make. That one I get, even if I don't like it. Why did they trade Isaac Collins for a mid reliever with 4 years of service time? Why did they trade Caleb Durbin and more for guys who project way worse?
Even filtered through the lens of "they're the Brewers" I don't really understand this Brewers off season
It's the kind of move that I understand them wanting to make (and am even a bit surprised it took as long as it did with all the recent realignment) but still hate from an aesthetic and rivalry perspective

@jon_bois a football player carries the ball to the 49 yard line, then the 50 yard line. however, after taking another step forward, he finds to his astonishment that he is once again at the 49 yard line. but how can this be? this is the grand riddle of football
Frambler Valdez to the tigers, road loss for MSU basketball, best Wednesday night for me in quite a while last night
Wow, it turns out that when a player does a bunch of dirty shit and his coach enables him by claiming not to have seen it, then that player will keep doing dirty shit.
Frambler to the Tigers maybe we're actually more back than we've ever been?
Oh I can't read apparently lol
They keep getting rumors that they're interested in starting pitchers, so my only thought is that maybe they sign Giolito or Bassist or whoever, Anderson goes to the pen and bumps Smith to AAA.
Also are you out on Parker Meadows?
Springfield (eating the dogs / cats) Ohio desperately needs your help with ICE.
Ohio Gov Mike DeWine said it will be “the next Minneapolis” as 15,000 Haitians (1/4th of the entire city) will have their TPS status prematurely revoked Weds Feb 4th.

@icegov.bsky.social kill yourselves
I don’t think people quite understand that the occupation by ICE in the Twin Cities has more or less erased non-white people from public life. They cannot safely exist in any space accessible to the public and moving between private places leaves folks vulnerable to kidnapping by armed masked goons.
Yeah I'm sure once the salaries are all equal no 29 year old professional athletes will want to move to the city that's 70 degrees all year and full of beautiful people to be part of inarguably the best run organization in the sport
I hate Tucker to the Dodgers as much as the next guy but if this makes you ok with a salary cap you're a mark
My position still remains that you give him a blank check and make the years work out after that, but hey, it's easy for me to say when it's not my money.
Anyway listen to the state of labor in baseball on Tipping Pitches, because it talks about this and other interesting topics
Skubal is making a statement with this, and the Tigers maybe aren't trying to as much, but they're making a baseball front office move that's predictable in that context. If this is what makes Skubal not want to sign a market rate contract in Detroit he never would have
Fwiw @baumann.bsky.social had a take about this on the Tipping Pitches podcast (still obstinately not on here lol): these numbers are posturing from Skubal and Boras and the Tigers. Does that mean I think the Tigers are right to do it as a fan? No, but their position is predictable as team behavior
jack daniels can be classified as either bourbon or whiskey, since bourbon and whiskey are simply different names for identical products
