This stunning woodblock print, created circa 1930 by Narazaki Eishล, offers a vertically oriented composition that captures a quiet nocturnal moment. The artwork features a large, brown-feathered owl with striking yellow eyes perched on a thick, dark tree limb that curves upward from the bottom right. The owlโs head is turned toward the viewer, its feathers detailed with soft, textured strokes. Surrounding the bird is a "radiant" display of pale white cherry blossoms, their delicate forms standing out against a muted, dusty blue twilight sky. Below the branch, the scene reveals a dark, silhouetted forest line bordering a body of water. The water reflects a shimmering, golden "luminous" light, likely from a moon hidden from view, which creates a rhythmic pattern of highlights across the ripples. The balance between the solid, dark form of the tree and the ethereal beauty of the blossoms and water reflections exemplifies the mastery of early 20th-century Japanese printmaking.
Japanese woodblock print titled "Owl and Cherry" , created circa 1930. It is the work of artist Narazaki Eisho (1864โ1936), who also produced art under the pseudonyms Fuyo, Kyokudo, and Shinjo.
Takaragawa Onsen Riverside View This second perspective of Takaragawa Onsen offers a closer look at the interaction between the traditional wooden architecture and the steaming thermal waters. The frame is dominated by the heavy, rustic timber beams of a large open-air pavilion that extends over the bathing area. Golden sunlight pierces through the structure and the rising mist, creating dramatic shafts of light that illuminate the swirling steam. In the foreground, a large, dark river stone sits partially submerged in the clear, rippling water, which reflects the warm glow of the sun. The background reveals a rugged, stone-lined embankment with patches of snow still clinging to the rocks, leading up to another traditional building perched further up the hillside. The contrast between the cold, snowy landscape and the warmth of the geothermal spring emphasizes the serene, therapeutic atmosphere of this world-renowned Japanese retreat.

By which I mean posting that way, not looking at someone's replies. I do that sometimes and if I'm right anyone else reading this must have done it too?
If you reply to a deleted post, I don't think it shows up in the following feed? Someone would have to look at your replies. Why would someone do that?

a framed watercolor that could be a painting of a story sky
i submitted this [not new] watercolor to the local food coop's open call for art. we'll see ...
There was a line in the sky to the east. Eyes closed, it remained. Turning, it stayed in the same place. It was a bearing from where I was. Along I-80 on the map. A lot of the time I don't know, so I don't say because things get misunderstood.
