Dr. Seuss’ work was so racist that the National Education Association moved away from centering him in Read Across America. The fact that schools, especially in BIPOC communities, are still centering his books during RAA is maddening.
He was a political cartoonist too. In HS their way of giving a balanced view of his legacy was to show that he was begging the U.S. to fight the Nazis AND lock all the Japanese Americans up so they can’t spy. They decided not to show us the sambo cartoons at all.

I learned a lot.
They don't care. They probably think we're being too sensitive. Which goes to tell you they don't really have a slur that really negatively affects them (and they are not oppressed even though they like to act like it when convenient). They only understand what they can personally relate to.
