Thereβs many things I miss about New Zealand, but having βBβ light for bus priority on bus route is high on the list.

I feel like Auckland had that problem a few years ago but thereβs been a concerted effort to change it. Myers Park used to be a very unsafe area (especially at night) and now serves as somewhere that kids in the new apartments can enjoy, while now creating a street free pedestrian link for commuters
I think one of the culture shocks I had moving from NZ to Canada was the lack of amenities such as public washrooms, small city parks and vegetation!
I also have an axe to grind about the lack of building awnings covering footpaths in Montreal/Toronto but I fear thatβs for another day.
Came to say this as a frequent RapidAir flight pass purchaser!
Happy to show you round or provide you with some pointers!!
Would love to see a version of the dark blue too!
New Auckland Transport train livery about to drop and Iβm hyped. First train to match the new style for the buses and ferries.

Exciting news! REM have just announced that the Duex-Montanges branch of the system will open on November 17.
Thatβs 14 new stations, with 3 connection points to Montrealβs metro system, and the return of rail transit to North Montreal who lost their EXO train for this project in 2020.
I believe that TTC Riders is advocating for fare caps. I saw this just yesterday! And I donβt recall the specifics but @chanface.bsky.social contributed to a report on this maybe last year (?)
This running pattern has been discussed with the Mayor and Councillors for many years.
Thatβs a great point! My tired brain didnβt even think of that option lol
I actually think that the running pattern of the trains will be great. Itβs going to be a big change for people to adjust to, but overall it will benefit more people than those who are disadvantaged.
My only gripe is the wayfinding. Hoping that it can be clear so people will understand better!
It looks like it will similar to Melbourne City loop scenario. So only the inner loop will be affected. Means depending on the time of day, departing towards the city from Newmarket, your next station could either be Parnell or Grafton.
Oh I hate it. So many possibilities enough time to figure it out (I played a *tiny* part in 2021!) and yet this is what they settled on?
*sighs in international way-finding*
First Via Rail trip in a few months that was on time and with an hour to go, someone in a pick up truck drove into the side of the train at a level crossing π¬
Sounds like everyone is okay but I imagine weβll be here for quite some time while police investigate.
Happy Pride Toronto! π³οΈβππ³οΈββ§οΈ
Yay for closed streets
Studies show itβs possible! pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC...
This was a project I worked on back in NZ before I moved to Canada. Itβs an incredible project, and designed in collaboration with indigenous artists and architects. Iβll need to go home to see it as soon as it opens π
Itβs now their snack of choice on domestic flights too! Had some yesterday from Toronto to Montreal.
Buying a Cybertruck is crazy at the best of times, but assuming they would be suitable for a MontrΓ©al winter is just complete foolishness.
The little Honda screaming past is the icing on the cake.
I would have loved that too - I did the one a few years back at WaitematΔ station, but I think with the crunch on construction timelines and how this part of the tunnel is built (Limited flat surfaces) it wouldnβt be feasible :(
Soon Auckland becomes a real city
Rumour is that the City Rail Link tunnels have been handed over to KiwiRail and the first test will be tonight, now that the underground section has been energized.
Canβt wait to see images of trains finally rolling down these tracks. An exciting step for the project!
Montreal in the winter is so beautiful π

Typos have been crazy lately
Being a transit nerd means spotting the ex GO bus fleet when you in Miami. Still has some of its bilingual signage on the sides!
Knew this news would eventually come but it still sucks to see.
Planning and Policy? Sure give it back to Auckland Council. But removing AT is the road authority is a big mistake. The only way AT has made decent progress is because of that. Expect less impartial progress when it comes to roads.
Bermuda loves pink! But those are minuscule and Iβm obsessed.
Iβm absolutely obsessed with Bermudaβs tiny buses which serve a very impressive network across the island. They are the perfect size for capacity and frequency, as well as their narrow roads. Comfortable and zero emissions too!
Forever in awe with how well connected Toronto Union Station is. I arrived from Montreal on my Via Rail train, and 3 minutes later Iβm on Line 1 headed home.
