This might be my all time favorite mural.

Beautiful mural in Glasgow, one of many, but this is my favourite π

I ran the food pantry for my university over the fall semester and we had some international students come in and say goodbye to some of our volunteers because their funding got cut. They couldnβt go into too much detail, but it was likely due to national policy changes. π
I just never get tired of bee watching. ππ€ππͺ»π

The rejection is so much easier to tolerate than the silence.
Have a 24+ hour road trip ahead of me. Any audiobook recommendations? Preferably something easily to follow and fictional. π
First PhD application sent. 4 more to go. π¬
Oh no! Could you go back and edit the application?
Thanks is so much π
First Bald Eagle sighting in years π¦
@ecologysupplies.bsky.social it was cool seeing you all in person at EntSoc. Here is to hoping for some colorful additions to your pro net series in 2026 outside of purple π
Looking forward to your workshop! π
This looks really cool, and Iβm so sorry if you posted the link somewhere and Iβm just not seeing it, but Iβm not sure where to access this podcast. π
I donβt know whatβs better, the caption or the photo π
Super rare that I Merlin picks up not one but two birds to add to my life list. Horned Lark and Purple Finch feels like the name of secret agents, maybe even time travelers who are sworn enemies with just a wisp of intimacy between them.
Ooo, thanks for sharing!
All signed up for the UC-Riverside Entomology PhD program open house. Future home maybe? π€·πΎββοΈ
If my research idea comes to fruition, books on seeds will be joining the books on bees on my shelf. π€ Not quite a seed book, but I hear amazing things about Botany of Empire.
S-Tier bird. Love them so much. ππΎ
Agreed! They are amazing. β€οΈ

The naturalist Jane Goodall died today at 91. Hope, she argued, is not merely βpassive wishful thinkingβ but a βcrucial survival trait.β Revisit a conversation with Goodall, from 2021: nyer.cm/F55JtsS
My harvest of dragon tongue beans to replant next year. I started off with just 7 seeds that I brought up with me from Florida to Vermont, and after growing them out and saving the seeds I now have a couple hundred to give away. π
Is this print available to purchase by chance? All of my research is based on the fact that the flourishing of human and pollinator populations is deeply intertwined in the tapestry that is the food system and that the health of food system and insect pollinators are mutually dependent. π€
Thanks Gwen! Iβm passing on this information to my advisors well, but all signs are pointing to no NSF funding opportunity for me going forward. π
Just to confirm, me being in the second year of my masters degree makes me ineligible?
Maybe Iβve misunderstood the NSF-GRFP this whole time, but as a second year Masters student Iβm not actually eligible to apply?

Please share with anyone who cares about NSF support for graduate students and take 30 seconds to sign and leave a comment.
The deadline for the 2025 Graduate Research Fellowship Program is about one month away and literally no one can apply. #NSFGRFP

I want to say something, but UT is one of the places Iβm hoping to apply to for my PhD so Iβll hold my tongue, or in this case, typing. π
I canβt believe the leaves are changing already at such a dramatic pace. I really want to pick them up, tape them back up on the trees, paint them green and pretend the cold isnβt coming. βΉοΈ
The struggle to work on oneβs thesis over the weekend. If I could just open the document that would be a win.
