METAHORSIS OF THE JORB
METAHORSIS OF THE JORB
Your favorite Marvel comic.
Thatβs an interesting synchronicity to have both Wolverine and Hellblazer hit issue 100 the same month.
They do exhaustive plot breakdowns, discuss the cast & crew, and then render their opinions. All three work in the film industry in technical roles, or at least two of them do.
I just listened to the @vintagevideopod.bsky.social episode about this film this morning. Synchronicity!

I usually roll with the audio version but I'll be making time to watch the video for this one.
Catch @freeformportland.org DJs at Trouble Bar the first Wednesday of every month! Trouble Bar is at 50th & Division in SE Portland.
I'll be the opening DJ at Trouble Bar tonight at 8 PM, getting things started with some oddball grooves and setting it up for DJs Sappho and Professor Beats to bring the dance party. DJ Big Lunch will cap it off with an hour of chill tunes to end the night.

Looks like I never even posted this one over here. Well, hereβs a poster for the archive. It was a fun time.
Beautiful night at the Aladdin Theater with Tortoise & Super Moth.
Agree with the pod about the edgelord art style being off-putting. I can take it in limited doses but not interested in spending 40+ hours of my life there.
Lincoln by They Might Be Giants would be the top option for teenage me.
Iβm halfway there!
Subcultural Wallpaper ep 31 has Clock DVA, the new @bathysphererecords.bsky.social release by Brass Clouds, Fog Net & Volcanic Pinnacles, and loads of other new tracks from The Meatles, Gigi, Anastasia Coope, Water From Your Eyes, Dial Alaska, & many more. Tuesday night/Wednesday morning at midnight
This is what bugged me about it at the time. As a young sci-fi nerd, the western setting and lack of time hyjinx bummed me out a bit. Still liked it tho.
Iβve always heard that Shade tanks pretty hard in the back end of the run. Guess Iβll see if I have the fortitude to plow through the whole thing when I pull the run out of storage to finally read it.
PANEL 1: NARRATOR: "Cultivating the measured NPR cadence and placid deference to the military that characterizes the ideal neoliberal subject, Clark Kent returns to the editorial meeting..." A group of DAILY PLANET reporters are in a meeting, Clark Kent is responding to a question from his boss. CLARK: "Well, chief, the bombing campaign--" PANEL 2: Clark is talking and the other reporters and co-workers look unhappy. CLARK: "Obviously war in the region is not-ah-"ideal," but regime change could ultimately provide socioeconomic benefits that far outweigh the regrettable civilian casualties..." CLARK (thinking): "As Superman, last son of Krypton, these words of course sicken me; however, it's Clark Kent's job to manufacture consent!" PANEL 3: (inset in a larger panel) One reporter is whispering to another. REPORTER: "Kent is such an off-putting sociopath" REPORTER 2: "I hope he kills himself". An arrow points to this inset panel that reads "Thanks to super-hearing" from Clark's ear. Clark is smiling and thinking to himself. CLARK (thinking): "Looks like my secret identity as Clark Kent is safe...FOR NOW!"

Nimrod!
Always thought Stigβs Inferno looked intriguing but never picked up an issue.
Jurassic Park is the first movie I was underwhelmed by due to hearing too much hype from friends that saw it opening weekend.
Comics publishing is the bottom rung of the money tree so I hope theyβll be able to go under the radar for a while.
I picked up a copy of this edition not too long ago. Mineβs a bit beat up but still a fun listen. I like it spiced in with lounge music and trip hop in a DJ mix.
Theyβre only regular sized after all.
Yay! An artifact of the summer I started reading Marvel comics. Olβ Speedy here will always be one of my favorites.
