Fresh? I had to settle for canned. Had to pay $40 for 12 cans on Amazon. I think I'll consider growing my own when I'm done with those.

Our splurge is gooseberry pie, an old family recipe and tradition for Thanksgiving. It's ridiculously expensive to make because gooseberries are apparently rare these days. Why in the world can't you buy a whole chicken there?

I'm doing the same green beans here, but I can't skip the candied yams - not the marshmallow kind, just cooked in brown sugar and butter - so good. We're having roast chicken instead of turkey this year. Stuffing and mashed taters and gravy are must-haves. The diet restarts tomorrow. 😂

Well, at least in my home, there is no green bean casserole! It's the time of year for homemade tamales to start appearing - a much better choice!
