Popped along to βcharity heavenβ today - otherwise known as Longfield Community Hospice Warehouse. Wow! The team are amazing and I had no idea how complex the work of our charityβs retail arm is.

Just watching The Resident (Netflix) and they are doing an excellent job of debunking myths about the word βhospiceβ. Not just for βthe very endβ.

And warm wishes to you too Donna.
It really was. I was supposed to be working but reflected on missing my own parents. π
Totally agree. I was an Erasmus student from Uk to Germany giving me a wider education and a changed outlook on the world and friends I still have now - 36 years later. My daughter recently travelled and visited one of those friends - evidencing the impact on two generations (so far).
I attended Longfieldβs Light Up A Life event yesterday, a music and spoken word celebration of the lives of people we love who have died. It was an incredibly moving and special afternoon.

Episode 5 of #StrongMessageHere is up on @BBCSounds and podcast platforms. @helenlewis and I take a word or phrase from current politics and look at how itβs being used. This week: βThe Deep State. www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/...
Cream background with blue and black text inviting people to give their experiences as Young Carers, and/or Young Adult Carers, who have been bereaved when they were caring for a family member, who died when the young/young adult carer was 25 years old or younger. If this describes you, please contact Noreen by email at Hopewell-KellyN2@cardiff.ac.uk. If this describes someone you know, please share this invitation with them. Thank you.
Did you care for a family member who died when you were aged 25 or under?

A poem by Langston Hughes titled "Tired". It reads as the following: "I am so tired of waiting, Aren't you, For the world to become good And beautiful and kind? Let us take a knife And cut the world in two -- And see what worms are eating At the rind."
I've been thinking about this poem by Langston Hughes recently and although it was published in 1931, it remains relevant as ever.

1% of care leavers in the UK go to uni. While this should not be deemed the ultimate goal for everyone, I was still privileged to attend the Graduation ceremony of our young friend whose journey to receive her 2:1 was one of the hardest Iβve come across without doubt. #CareLeavers #YoungCarers
