#Bonsai Bougainville in the making
Two little larch seedlings (~ 2 years old) in a pond basket, their main trunk wired to the side and a small branch wired as new top.
Several pots with very small trees, in the front is a cotoneaster. The soil/substrate is white, red and black (from the different mineral substrate types used).
In the foreground, there is a small pond basked with a hornbeam that is just opening the buds, In the background, a larger pond basket with another tree and a meadow.
A freshly repotted weeping willow with some sacrificial branches wired out with silver wire. The background shows a blurry image of our garden.
#bonsai repotting season has started for me here in #Austria: Some trees started opening their buds and showing some green, which means they are ready for repotting. Did most of the current repots to improve the #nebari, not becaus the trees were pot-bound...

That & also it eliminates the last bit of lawn we have on our section apart from the berm in front of the house...yay. everything else is covered in trees, garden, bonsai benches or decking..
Mower only used once every 6 to 8 weeks. Petrol, in the can is more used as reserve to get to the station π
Newly installed timber edging and leveled out garden soil with a maple tree front right and low bushy hebe to left of that. Behind is another low maple tree to left of that and growing above it a PukΔ tree.

10 yr old son expressed over a few months interest in having input on some garden design around the house so I got this area sorted with some edges an levels for him to do what he likes.
Seems keen on low growing ferns & tufts of flowering plants like small hebe, armeria which all sounds good π³πΏπ±

Was loading the macrocarpa bonsai development forest into the car for a workshop tomorrow, and the sunset lighting was too good to miss.
The two front trees still have their ridiculously tall sacrifice leaders on. Will keep those on until spring.

Just envision that a Government came to power and cancelled a whole raft of essential programmes which would reduce the country's dependence on fossil fuels, only for there to be a once in a century oil crisis.
I feel like that amazing Pride Parade in Te Whanganui-a-Tara was a big Get F*%ed to this government. I saw @dashingdarbs.bsky.social looking dashing as in a kilt! and @queenoliviaiii.com (I think) and Ayesha Verrall bringing up the rear with on Dykes on Bikes. It was really niceZ

Weather is nice here in Aotearoa some overcast clouds but pleasant early autumn temperature no wind or rain. Im at a cafΓ© trimming my bonsai in their outdoor seating area.
Just tried the translate function and it works.

Good morning everyone. #TreeOfTheDay no.1373 Misty start before the sun.
Black-headed honeyeater with yellow plumage
Another super-rarity, the hihi or stitchbird. These birds struggle to survive without substantial support in the form of food supplementation and nest boxes, probably because of habitat differences between the forests they once inhabited and the predator-free offshore islands where they now hang on.
Another extremely rare New Zealand passerine, the yellowhead.
Grey bird hanging from a fern leaf
And here's a whitehead again, hanging from a tree fern frond. This guy was so entertaining that I almost missed the one and only boat back to the mainland.
