International Literacy Day 2025
Itβs #LiteracyDay today, and that includes digital literacy. So how confident are young people in engaging digitally?
@thakeman.bsky.social writes the latest AQi blog about the myth of the digital native and what support young people need in this digital media era > www.aqa.org.uk/aqi/the-myth...
Would love to hear more about this
If Darren Jones is now CDL anyway, doesnβt the new CSPM role lose some of its importance? Is the new story now really the newly formed Department of Growth led by Pat McFadden?
At very least looks like a change if JS is moving dept or bridging across two. If the former then DfE needs a Lords Minister?
The interesting Q re: Polanski taking over the Greens is whether they can keep their strategic ambiguity that has allowed them to win in both progressive and nimby/Tory/conservationist areas.
To be fair to gov, a lot of the changes seem designed to *reverse* exactly what you describe here ie having a single senior policy person and ditto re comms?
A lot of this feels to me like shuffling deckchairs. Successive govts seem to tinker with central functions without fundamentally changing much
I was more interested in the language of βphasesβ which implies the govt has woken up to the need to signpost and story tell, even if belatedly! π
If you want No. 10 to become a dept in its own right
a) What does that mean for the cabinet office?
b) Does that mean a more βPresidentialβ style in the Thatcher and Blair mould? That doesnβt feel very KS?
c) Is the physical building of No. 10 fit for purpose or do you need to start to rethink?
Martin about as happy as I am with doing a half time interview. What new devilry is this?
βIn a world where AI will be ubiquitous, but we want young people to develop knowledge and skills of their own, we will need to find a balance,β writes Chinwe Njoku in an engrossing new AQi blog.

Had to do a double take on these polling figures π @politico.eu @yougov.co.uk
π worrying
Yes I do agree that the application of the test needs more nuance than it probably will have. Havenβt seen the details apart from on this page
www.civil-service-careers.gov.uk/fast-stream/...
Statistics still awful for care leavers, disability, etc. Seems very unwise to limit just to one form of βdisadvantageβ. Agree with the sentiment but would personally leave it a lot more nuanced. Seems done more for the headlines than the actual policy impact
I donβt, I think an HEO in the cabinet office will read the form and go βnope doesnβt qualifyβ
