Cover of Green & Deadly Things by Jenn Lyons, depicting a hand gripping a sword, both covered in vines.
It shouldn’t be possible for a single book to provide such intricate worldbuilding while maintaining so relentless a pace as Green & Deadly Things, but @jennlyons.bsky.social pulls it off. It’s a stand-alone fantasy that grips from Page 1, and I devoured it in three sittings. Recommended #Booksky

Cover of Dealing with Dragons by Jaleigh Johnson, depicting two adventurers squaring off against a dragon with curved horns.
@jaleighjohnson.bsky.social’s Fallbacks series feels like sitting around the table with friends playing D&D, and Dealing with Dragons knows EXACTLY why that’s so much fun. Quirky characters with robust development, big action, and D&D’s particular brand of addictive chaos await. Delightful #Booksky

Hmm, who will turn out a better script, the talent behind The Righteous Gemstones or Hollywood’s inexplicably favorite failson of the 2010s?
The suspense is killing me.

Cover of The Hidden Queen by Peter V. Brett, depicting Darin Bales, a pale skinned young man with dark hair, holding a set of pipes like a pan flute while standing in a field.
@pvbrett.bsky.social’s The Hidden Queen is a middle book that avoids the dreaded Middle Book Syndrome by filling its pages with character development and emotional payoffs galore. Action, suspense, romance, and a killer cliffhanger make the wait for the trilogy’s finale in a month agonizing #Booksky

When you have an audience or a business you have to ensure that you always provide a lot more value to people than you extract from them. If you don't then, long term, it all breaks down.
Young people I talk to today...they feel like the whole entire world has broken this contract with them.

Cover of The Pariah by Anthony Ryan, depicting a man in hooded ragged garments sitting cross-legged on cobblestones, a sheathed sword lying across his lap.
#Booksky, it’s taken me WAY too long to start reading @anthonyryan.bsky.social. Just finished The Pariah, and it’s a masterclass in narrative voice, a character-driven novel in the purest of terms that doesn’t forget to be exciting and fun to read. Looking forward to diving into his back catalogue!

All of this. I am the first of my target audience.
Part of this is, if you aren't creating for someone, it's like creating for everyone, which is creating for no one.
And as a writer, that someone should be me since I HAVE to reread my work over and over and over 🫠 that's publishing, bay-bee

…that Brett manages to have two first person POVs that each feel distinct. Love these characters, love spending time in this world, love the heart-pounding way he writes action. The Desert Prince gripped me from the start and refused to let go. HIGHLY recommended. 2/2

Cover of The Desert Prince by Peter V. Brett, depicting an androgynous character in leather armor holding a spear dripping with black demon ichor in a desert city setting.
#Booksky Finally got around to reading @pvbrett.bsky.social’s The Desert Prince, and it may be his best book yet. Brett’s skills as a writer have never been finer in this tale of demon slaying that still has space for a stirring exploration of gender. It’s the mark of a truly talented writer… 1/2

Cover of For We Are Many by Dennis E. Taylor, depicting space stations and smaller ships in orbit around a turquoise planet, with other planets in the background. The blurb on the cover shows Matt Dinniman likes these books too, which feels like a given, considering the strong authorial voice.
For We Are Many, @dennisetaylor.bsky.social’s second Bobiverse book, is another shot of pure sci-fi entertainment. Big ideas, deepening character and worldbuilding arcs, musings on immortality, all filtered through that good good Bob voice. What’s not to love? #Booksky

Statement from Michael and Susan Pretti
Parents of Alex Jeffrey Pretti
“We are heartbroken but also very angry.
Alex was a kindhearted soul who cared deeply for his family and friends and also the American veterans whom he cared for as an ICU nurse at the Minneapolis VA hospital. Alex wanted to make a difference in this world. Unfortunately, he will not be with us to see his impact.
I do not throw around the ‘hero’ term lightly. However, his last thought and act was to protect a woman. The sickening lies told about our son by the administration are reprehensible and disgusting. Alex is clearly not holding a gun when attacked by Trump’s murdering and cowardly ICE thugs. He had his phone in his right hand and his empty left hand is raised above his head while trying to protect the woman ICE just pushed down, all while being pepper sprayed.
Please get the truth out about our son. He was a good man. Thank you.
Kare 11 local news just read, in full, this statement from Michael and Susan Pretti, the parents of Alex Pretti.

Transphobia is a cancer of the heart and mind.
It is a useless fear, based on ignorance and cruelty.
Trans people are not responsible for a single one of the problems we face.
Do the world a favor and grow the fuck up.
