The good news about Russia not accepting any "peace" deal (which Putin would never hold on to anyway) is that it buys time for Europe to arm Ukraine and generally get its act together. We may not accept that the two imperialistic powers will decide the fate of a European state 19century style
Even though the Russian shelling of the Ukrainian energy infrastructure is horrible, Ukraine's attacks on Russia's oil facilities are more damaging for Russia economically. Putin only agreed to what can benefit him. He didn't agree to any cease-fire, and there have been no consequences from the US
