well this was a wonderful first outing

it's impressive that a predictive algorithm can approximate human expression and speech to such a degree

but it's an algorithm at the end of the day

it has no sense of self and no agency, it just has computers running probability calculations on an ecologically devastating scale

claude does not and was not made to have any idea of what it is saying, it just knows that this word PROBABLY comes after the previous word given the context of all of the other words it's using to calculate things off of

it cannot internalize what things are

on a fundamental level living beings are some kind of computer but even things like rodents and birds have a far more complex understanding of the world than a math problem about predicting words does

we are able to understand the nature of things and how they work

claude understands probability

I was just venting to a friend the other day about how 10 years ago it was like… unheard of to see this volume of projects get so far into development before the company funding it decides “project cancelled, everyone go home” how much money is being thrown away on art no one gets to see?

we're boiling the world away on math problems that don't need to be solved

well for one concious beings know what shit actually is on some level instead of just doing math equations about word probability

well for one human conciousness has emotions, internal conflict, ideas of what things are, beliefs, superstitions

instead of, you know, a math problem about predicting words

having seen pokemon art I think it might be harder to make a team without that
