13 year old leaf still getting 70 a charge. Bought it used in 2019 - best car decision of my life.

Just makes me think of parents + youth sports. Like you are both under 5’6”, your kid is not getting a basketball scholarship.

Anecdotal for sure, but the parents are weird about food. So many adults with special diets they foist onto the kids.

Wrote my masters thesis on baseball and the courts. The exemption is bullshit. But, ironically, it’s the reason baseball has a stronger union than other sports.

The court denying protections to the nba/nfl in the 50s when the player unions were weak allowed owners to get better terms early.

The real fun begins in middle school when the leagues aren’t equal playing time anymore. Paying to watch your kid get 2 minutes of garbage time so the volunteer coach can win 6th grade.

I love paying for youth sports with parent volunteer coaches.

Growing up in Hawaii meant free lychees, passion fruits, apple bananas, guavas, papayas, and awesome mangos. Also meant the worlds shittiest peaches for $8 a pound in 1985.

The worst fruit is any unripe fruit.

Nearly 100% of schoolwork for my 11 year old 6th grader is done in person. Partly bc as she says, β€œthe teachers can barely use canva” and partly bc the tik tok video showing kids how to make their chromebooks spark. The district stopped sending laptops home with the kids. So back to paper for all.

Rising C farms for the win. Friends don’t let friends get bags of cuties.

This is the most correct a youth sports take can be.

In Oregon 10 & 11 year old girls have faster qualifying time requirements for states than the boys do. Personally watched the girls on my daughter’s team routinely beat the same age boys.

10 year old girls are typically bigger and stronger than 10 year old boys. In swimming the girls wreck the boys until 11 or 12.

Neither is bad but both are inferior to ordering takeout at the bar, enjoying a drink while you wait, and then heading home to the fam.

At least for boutique fashion lines, prices are set 6-9 months in advance. Contracts for last fall were honored. Spring saw some bump, but the real bump in apparel prices will be starting this fall. Wholesale prices are up about 20% vs last year. That $200 sweater is going to $300 this year.

$17 bucks gets you a bucket of 5 beers and a shot at the right place.

Small data point. My wife reps clothing brands and we just got Fall 26 collections. This is the first collection with tariffs fully priced in and it’s eye popping. Wholesale price +15-20%.

I’ve seen enough grandparents at youth sporting events to know that the real age group ban should be 65+. The olds are outta control.

Alcohol sales subsidize the restaurant industry. Not sure if $10 mocktails can make up the loss. Could be catastrophic.
