Reposting for obvious reasons.
ICE has leased large office spaces is every major U.S. city. And if they follow the Minneapolis playbook, they will use those hubs to terrorize suburban and rural areas too.

Gallup is going to stop polling on presidential approval after 88 years. Wow.

No one can deny that ICE under this Administration is being overly aggressive, violating people's rights, and endangering the lives of U.S. citizens and law abiding immigrants. We cannot move forward without commonsense reforms.
I’m wondering if other instructors are seeing surprise from students about accountability regarding AI usage and in-person exams in classes? Having an AI usage statement for my classes had a student call it “ground breaking,” but I have a hard time believing they are seeing this for the first time.
I had a great time meeting and seeing @melissabaker.bsky.social present today at University of Illinois! Such cool work on mindfulness as a tool for correcting misinformation. Look forward to seeing more great work!
Doing everything I can to teach all my students what’s happening, and I’m ready for a nap.
Every time ICE kills someone, let it be a reminder that they do not have the power to govern the way they want.
Violence is the weakest and most unstable source of power. If the state is relying on violence, it’s a sign they can’t get power any other way.
My group chats are full of Minnesotans reacting to today’s murder by figuring out ways they can help.
We need people outside of the state to do the same thing. Whatever you wish everyone else was doing right now? Do it today.
Let’s make a list of things that could help.
This resource is EXCELLENT.
Something you almost certainly won’t see in the national news is how many tiny protests are all over the Twin Cities today.
They’re at stoplights. Parks. Bridges. Just everywhere. And people walking by are joining in. The solidarity is so deep.
It’s beautiful and brave. I love this city.
I’m tired of the cynicism wrapped up in “not surprised.” Not being surprised isn’t wisdom, for many it’s resignation. Hoping for less detached commentary and more action.
My @mprnews.org colleagues today produced a ton of great journalism today around the ICE surge in the Twin Cities. Here's a link to our daily liveblog. It's an easy way to get a quick look at much of what happened Thursday.

Tfw the dog won’t wag
We’re the bad guys now.
Republican Nazis thought we would greet ICE as liberators. They fundamentally do not understand human decency.
"The targeted people - again, almost all of whom are U.S. citizens or in the U.S. legally - are abducted and frequently sent to jail in Texas or Louisiana or elsewhere within 24 hours; hopefully the neighborhood observers were able to get their name and a phone number for a friend or family member. The neighborhood observers, peacefully practicing their legal rights, are labeled terrorists by their government. Or worse, they are also abducted and detained..."
Don Moynihan shares a letter from a Minneapolis/St. Paul resident who was previously political uninvolved. donmoynihan.substack.com/p/dispatch-f...
the people of MN have been murdered, brutalized and kidnapped for weeks now and have remained *amazingly* peaceful in the face of it. lecturing citizens to not “take the bait” etc is pretty disrespectful after a point and avoids the real question: how long are they supposed to take this, undefended?
They have an Armchair Expert episode where this is addressed by both of them. Would recommend.
ANES Data Release! electionstudies.org/data-center/...
The 3-wave ANES panel is now available. It merges data from 3 election studies (2016-2020-2024), the first time the ANES has collected interviews of the same respondents across 3 presidential elections.
I have a research idea on this. Curious what happens in an experimental setting when you make explicit to people that health influencers make money from all of their recommendations and it's not just they are trying to help people. People may know this but making explicit how much money is at stake
Teaching politics is a joy at this period in history. It feels important at such a critical period in U.S. history.
I can try looking into it!
I have new survey data! Democrats are more likely to disagree that masculinity is under threat than Republicans in the US—a bigger divide than gender! Super interested what this means in the context of online environments and politics. Thanks to @verasight.bsky.social for fielding the question!
NEW — I wrote about my confirmed scoop from last night that Disney hastened Kimmel's return because of a planned Disney+ streaming price increase announcement coming on Tuesday:
currently at record-high search interest for canceling disney plus. pulling kimmel is a bigger deal to the company's bottom line than any of the "woke" scandals of the past 5 years. i think news & entertainment corp execs need put more work into understanding their audience, & get off twitter

"I was the last remaining Black full-time opinion columnist at the Post [...] What happened to me is part of a broader purge of Black voices from academia, business, government, and media — a historical pattern as dangerous as it is shameful — and tragic."
