Happy #SecondhandSunday! New study shows 92% of people are open to receiving secondhand gifts, but only a third of people are comfortable buying them. Let's normalize #preloved this holiday season! https://buff.ly/3ZsOxhf

Her Little Flowers is a gothic gem - perfect if you love stories where place and mood carry as much weight as the plot. I can’t wait to read more of her work.

Morgan’s writing builds an atmosphere that wraps around you and lingers long after you finish. The house doesn’t just set the scene; it feels like a main character with its own moods and memories.

Her Little Flowers by Shannon Morgan - gothic book recommendation

I just discovered the writing of @smauthor.bsky.social, and I’ve already devoured Her Little Flowers. I’m completely taken with her atmospheric style - so beautifully detailed that you feel like you’re stepping right inside the story.

Had a great week helping my grade one students explore how days, weeks, and even months make up a year! Students loved this book by @mirandapaul.bsky.social and @julienchung.bsky.social .

At the bridge of his ship
He cries, β€œOff we go!”
To his crayon-drawn crew
As the current takes hold.

The lined paper sails
Catch the wind and then
He ventures to hideaway
Far away lands.

At the top of High Street
At the edge of the harbour
Stands Captain Jack Macklin
In his red rubber boots
Umbrella forgotten.

If you have access to the curriculum, you could check the expectations for the grades. Meeting the expectations can also help the teacher :)

Wow! I loved those books, likely back in the mid 80s? I can still visualize the covers. And Sweet Valley High? Same decade.

I usually have an e-book on the go, a physical book AND an audiobook. Is that weird, lol? I can’t be the only one who reads multiple books at a time? For my next audiobook, I have to choose between The Rose Code, Where the Crawdads Sing, and A Rip through Time (all already purchased).

I just borrowed β€œHowl’s Moving Castle” by Diana Wynne Jones. I’ve heard it’s a good one. 🏰

#kidlitchat I’ve been teaching, mostly special education. I’ve been raising my three boys, one is 19 and twins that are almost 14. My eldest has seizures (Dravet Syndrome) and a profound intellectual disability. In the years caring for him, I lost myself. Finally trying to discover who I am again.

I’ve dabbled in so many hobbies, from pottery to calligraphy. But, the fun I had this week was simply beating the Hogwarts Legacy game on PS5. One goal accomplished on my summer holidays, lol.
