I’m working overnights this weekend and figured since I’ve been burning the middle oil finishing the new feature anyway, it’d help me manage through the night without hitting the wall. Reader, I have not hit the wall. I’ve smacked and been decimated by it.

Y'know, there's a cliché with directors hating their films during the early edits, wondering how they made such crap, knowing they will finally be banished to filmmaker purgatory. But as the process moves on and things refine, the film comes to life and love and excitement returns.

It's a great set. The third film hasn't aged well, and it wasn't exactly high caliber to begin with, but the first film is shockingly moody and beautiful! And there's a surprise young Sam Rockwell in it!

I absolutely love indie filmmaking, but it means you end up wearing a LOT of hats, and compositing and tracking effects are definitely some of my least favourite hats. Like fedoras; for some people, but not for me.

My happy place used to be the video/music store, browsing and making new discoveries. Heck, every time I hit London, I go to Fopp in Covent Garden because it still has the most surprising range. I miss nerding out and deep-diving with like-minded folks!
