wow, i love these lines /so/ much !!
dreamt of a very detailed, very kind semi-rejection (?) email. (the feedback is surprisingly helpfulโthank you, subconscious!)
wishing everyone a full-request friday & other good news! โบ๏ธ
haha tyty!!
project updates:
OUTFALL โ i ended up scrapping the very first section and adding in a new chapter at the beginning
SWBB (wip) โ first draft done at an absurd wc, so i'm letting it sit before going back to revise
TPD (new wip!) โ outlined, so i'll start the first draft this month ;-)
keeping busy!
been a bit since i've been here, but i'm popping in to say happy pride month! ๐๐ hope everyone has a lovely start to june! :-)
thank you!! ๐ฅบ
happy monday, #queerwriters !!
against all odds, i finished my first draft last week. admittedly it took until saturday evening... LOL
this week, i want to explore another wip idea & do another batch of queries (since i took a bit of a break) !!
it's actually such a problem... fighting against my brain fr ๐ซ LOL
LOLL thank you ๐๐ญ
i have this problem where i'm ~70% done with a project/wip/etc and then get an idea for something else, which of course my brain believes is sooo much better and more interesting (โฅ๏นโฅ) be quiet brain! let me work in peace! we'll get to that other thing later!
LOLLL i love this description
i've been in denial, but thereโs no way i'm finishing my draft LOL skimming through it rn and there a lot more holes and missing scenes than i realized... might actually end up being my goal for next week :'-) still making decent progress though!
this sounds so ominous and intense, i love it :]
it's a bit bizarre to go from writing romance almost exclusively โ thrillers (although there is a platonic-verging-on-romantic situation hehe ๐)
working on this horrormance wip is bringing back a lot of tropes i missed LOL
& the wip i have planned for later.. well. i love love, so it'll be fun! ;]
unrequited love... mutual pining..... yearning......... HELL yeah to the whole list but especially those
this sounds SICK! some of my favorite tropes, and the whole concept is so cool!
thank you so much ๐ฅน๐ค
oh i LOVE this concept!!
thank you so much!
omg that's awesome!
this sounds so cool!! and that moodboard! ๐
this sounds so cool! i'm always a sucker for a good ensemble cast :-]
this sounds so interesting!!
omg i love that pitch! i'm such a sucker for people forced to work together (and then inevitably caring about each other...) ๐คญ
the comps? the moodboard? the description?? oh i'm SO into this
Image of a dark sewer/tunnel that leads to a distant spot of the outside world. The text reads: "An Agent's Guide to OUTFALL, an 81k adult psychological thriller"
The one sentence pitch for OUTFALL is: "Haunted by the serial killer she escaped as a child twenty years ago, Minyoung returns to her hometown to confront the secrets of her past before the killerโs ghost can finish what he started all those years ago." The background image is a zoomed in photo of a dark sewer outfall.
A list of tropes in the left column: "complex BIPOC FMC; unreliable narrator; inescapable past; secret-laden hometown; distorted memories; literal + figurative hauntings" In the middle column, a 3x3 moodboard of a body floating out of a sewer outfall; an overlay of photographs for a missing person; a large, jagged whole through planks as if something fell through; a sign reading "too many deaths, too much pain;" a woman standing in an empty area with her car behind her, its inside lit and door open; text reading "we are all museums of fear;" a painting of a person's hand holding a knife, moving as though about to stab; an illustration of two heads, one of who is putting its hand to circle the other person's eye; dozens of hands reaching out of the water and towards some unseen thing above. In the right column, it's recommended for fans of Riley Sager's MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT, Ashley Audrain's THE PUSH, Alyssa Cole's WHEN NO ONE IS WATCHING, and Abigail Dean's GIRL A
The first lines of OUTFALL are pasted and read as follows: "The man who kills Marissa is the kindest man in the neighborhood. He isnโt there when it happens. Heโs above ground, in his home two streets away, just like everyone in Brunsmouth lives two streets away. Heโs probably mowing someoneโs lawn, or cleaning gutters, or doing any of the million other things that makes the grown ups crouch and point and say, โLook at how nice he is. Look how kind. You should be like that, too.โ It takes over a week before Marissa dies, unraveling under a smell worse than she can process, and a darkness too terrible to describe. She dies afraid. Minyoung, though, is born baring her teeth. Sheโs born surrounded by sewage and despair, in a body with claws and survival carved into her marrow. Sheโs born to survive."
MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT x THE PUSH
Escaping a serial killer isn't enoughโwhen the killer returns to haunt Minyoung 20 years later, she has to figure out:
-the detective who caught him
-why the killer is back
-reality vs her growing paranoia
-how she can even destroy him

cute moment indeed ๐ฅน love the little cheek kiss aww
if it wasn't obvious this also applies to writing. in fact i think the concept of "you'll probably hate your first draft" might be essential to writing alongside the concept of a piece never being "finished"
art is evolution. let it grow in your hands
it's always so interesting to see how much things change compared to the very first draft!! whenever i read through mine, it's such a mixed bag of feelings
dare i say to finish my wip's first draft...? sure! we aim high! :-D
alsoโquest pit!! made my things ahead of time to spare myself the stress, and i'm looking forward to seeing other people's posts and getting motivated + inspired by everyone
(and... maybe send out a couple of queries? we shall see)
