Fair enough. I get that there are colonial connotations and that the Ordnance Survey of Ireland doesn't recognise it, but for what I was after. Although Ireland doesn't recognise it and I understand why it is the most common used by geographers, and so for my albeit clumsy shorthand was most useful

I wonder @folklorepod.bsky.social if you know of any books specifically about the folklore of birds in the British Isles? Of course we know the magpie rhyme but there must be other stuff (wrens in Ireland, robin redbreast aside).
