It's fine for things to be outdated. If you insist upon engaging with it in a 'fandom' way, however, bluntly speaking you need to grow up and acknowledge they're outdated and if you cannot like something that's outdated, then. Don't engage with it.

I get liking a character nobody else likes, but you don't need to defend your liking to them in such a way that talks down on people. I get liking old era internet history / humor, but don't shittalk Max, Strongbad, Heavy just because people don't like your outdated webcomic dude
