most people look at the xz exploit and see a problem, but i see opportunity. i say let the nsa and the pla provide funding and labor for our open source projects. they'll slip in the occasional backdoor, but it's a small price to pay for sustainable open source

It’s a secondary dominant (E7) which is ”out of key” but not polytonal. I think the trick with the backing vocals is the descending voice leading hitting key notes in the chords

they probably just jammed it out until it sounded good though

Judging by hoodmaps, Baltimore seems like a real exciting place

none of this discussion happens in public and i think that's what bothers me the most. the expectations around remote work are not spelled out, the people who do the work lie about what they do, companies lie about what they want, and remote work is rolled back in harder times without explanation

08.06.2023 20:09 πŸ‘ 1 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 0 πŸ“Œ 0

everything is simple when ass-in-chair time is the metric, but remote work reveals that you're dealing with complex humans who have emotions and struggle to self-motivate without the process and culture of an office

08.06.2023 20:09 πŸ‘ 1 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

wtf do you do when someone is unmotivated, or sad, or feels that their work is a waste of time, or just don't really care? when their livelihood depends on them shutting up about it?

08.06.2023 20:09 πŸ‘ 1 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

as someone who is getting more managerial responsibilities, i'm starting to sympathize with managers who feel like they don't understand what's going on when everyone is remote

08.06.2023 20:09 πŸ‘ 1 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

the 40 hour work week is not openly negotiable, but anecdotally people take real liberties with their time under the guise of doing full time work

08.06.2023 20:09 πŸ‘ 1 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

what a well-off office worker wants most of all is more time. remote work offers this, at the expense of company culture and how engrossed people are in work

08.06.2023 20:09 πŸ‘ 1 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

a rant about remote work (software edition)

remote work is a tug-of-war about the hours of the day and the brainspace allocated to work, a tacit negotiation between employer and employee about the time you spend on work and related rituals

08.06.2023 20:09 πŸ‘ 2 πŸ” 1 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

the sheer fakeness of the event just turns me off. everyone is casually yet perfectly dressed. all speaking has been rehearsed to death, but sounds natural. the backdrop looks like nature but is anything but natural. and this dissonance is the source of their markup

noooooooooooo not again will someone please put an end to this vile language
