Em Dashes finds a new home
New edition of my EM DASHES newsletter this morning. No longer on Substack! I talk through how the rogues' gallery photo of tech billionaires at the inauguration last year inspired me to remove Google, Amazon, Meta, et al. from my life (as much as possible) and reclaim my attention and my soul.

there is nothing the white-dominated music industry would love more than to make a minimally marketable approximation of Black music without involving any Black people in any way

Two copies of the first issue, the variant cover by Christian Ward and the main cover by me.
Me, holding the comic book.
A blurb from Chris Coplanβs 10/10 review of the first issue.
-you can feel writer/artist Dave Chisholm engaging us across the very page.
-thereβs so much thematic heft here, but itβs always filtered through the deeply personable.
-the art dazzles with intense displays of human fear/joy and a veritable rainbow of colors.
-the book is both emotionally resonant but is also a technical demonstration of comicsβ true scope and capabilities

Woke up with no clue where to go next in my WIP. Stared at a blank page for 2 hours. Then, cracked a story knot that has been plaguing me for the last YEAR (at least). Few hours later, I've got six pages of notes on where to go next, and I'm 1.5k words into a new chapter.

A screenshot of Buttondown's Apple Music Integration page. The example shown is broken.
I'm intrigued by @buttondown.com, but seeing this on their Integrations page gave pause. 1. Why the unnecessary Tidal slam, my dudes? I use Tidal, and would love a newsletter software that allowed me to embed. And 2. The example doesn't even work right.
