honestly nothing illustrates fandom’s shortcomings like a post that goes “hey guys quick tip for fic writers :) this is how dialogue tags work” with a friendly tone and no particular fic pointed at generating days of discourse involving people acting like grammar tips are mean and an attack on them

i'm the opposite of possessive about my likes/ships. everyone should love my faves and put them in situations NOW

if you can't handle a POV style that's a you problem. POV is chosen to serve narrative purpose, not to appease readers.

you can choose a bad POV for the story you're trying to tell. not every story works well or serves a good purpose in 1st person, or even 3rd person. hell, Gatsby is 1st person peripheral, which is an insane POV style to write and requires a skillful hand. even romance is not always "best" in 1st.

POVs aren't chosen at random. POV styles reflect a direct purpose of the author when it comes to how narrative is conveyed and how information is delivered to the reader. choosing the correct POV for the type of story you're trying to tell can elevate your story a million miles.
