I was tasked with discovering Modo from an animation standpoint. Movement style, finding appealing angles, and nailing down Modos shape language.
This was actually the first shot that was done on the film with Modo. I learned so much from animating this shot alone. π
Thank you!
Thank you so much! Iβm glad you enjoyed it!
Thats alright! Im pretty sure my own family doesnt really understand what I do lol
In general animators are only responsible for the characters performance and any props that need to move
Things like the lighting, design of the character, hair, clothing, set etc. are all done by other departments
Thank you! Iβm really big on using reference. Locomotion can be so complicated and everyone moves so differently itβs hard to keep all of that information in my head, so studying reference for my shots is key. I also try to approach movements one step at a time.
Hereβs everything I animated on #kpopdemonhunters
Iβm so grateful I got to add a little something to this amazing film π
Thank you and Iβm glad you enjoyed it!
Honestly the reference/planning part of animation is my favourite part! I feel like itβs where I get to make the most creative choices.
Thatβs awesome!! So glad you enjoyed it!
I was only a very small part of making this film, but thank you π
The story board artists do a great job letting us know generally whatβs going on in the scene. The emotional state of the characters with a few poses. With that info the animators will bring their take on what the acting/action will be while staying true to what was laid out in the story boards
This is just a reference collection of smaller shots.
One thing to notice with video reference is that itβs just a road map. A lot of things can change as you dive deeper into the shot when it comes to performance.
This shot is a great example of collaborating with other animators to stitch together the best pieces of each animatorβs performance.
Thank you to the amazingly talented Joy Liu, Annike Pienaar and Sophia Lee for helping me out with this one! π
Thank you!
I made sure to move the couch cushions on the floor behind me so I could fully commit to that fall so Iβm glad you enjoyed it lol
Hereβs my reference for some of the shots I animated on KPop Demon Hunters.
This sequence of shots was particularly fun because it was a rare opportunity to explore Jinuβs goofy side π
Cool?
Yaaaaa people definitely donβt know me here yet lol
But thank you!
So glad to hear! Yea the whole crew did an amazing job π
Aw shucks Charlie π
Far from a rockstar, but thank you lol
Youβre an amazing lead Charlie!!
Another run of shots I animated here. Making sure each girl had their own personality in the way they move was really fun to explore.
Thank you! Super fun to animate π
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it. The whole crew is amazing and I consider myself lucky to be a part of it π
These were the very first shots I animated with the girls on screen at once. It was a fun way to discover each of their personalities, design language and how they play off of one another.
Thank you!
Also big shout out to Ryusuke Furuya for helping plan a lot of the action shots on the film!
Charlie!! So good! Still one of my favourite shots of the movie lol
I never know what to say for my first posts on a new social media account π
I guess Iβll just say Hi! Iβm a senior animator at Sony Pictures Imageworks and the latest project I worked on was KPop Demon Hunters
Heres one of my shots. Iβll post some other shots I animated with some ref later π
