Me: oh we look good. We've shaven some passes away and just played in behind, this will be a good game
Also me 10 minutes later: nevermind

We are failing at evolving as a team. Still slow and calculated in a game that calls for more physicality and fast breaks.
Teams just sit back and wait, because we play ourselves into stupid positions.
And I know everyone loves Timber. I do too. But this game, he's a reason we didn't win. Trying to make a smart decision, when a quick one was the right choice.
Everything is so slow and meticulous. It's just asphyxiating.
Arteta recruited players with more direct ideas in Gyokeres, Zubi and Eze. Then put them into trams of players who are five chess steps ahead, but not ready for change.
Here's my very quick analysis after the game.
It's been said multiple times, but Arsenal really makes it difficult for themselves.
Everything is about control - don't out muscle the team - don't give away stupid fouls - don't make a cross without certain players in the box.
Some prematch workout. Been doing marathon training last year. Got up until 21 km. Then lost all motivation due to pitch blackness on the roads.
Doing 5x5 weight training instead until it's lighter. I forgot how much I enjoy warmth but despise long rest periods.
Also. This is a match we win right?
I HOPE that this cup game is used to rest profiles and play Fringe players into form.
I hope for White, MLS, Jesus, Martinelli, Mosquera - Salmon on the bench.
But I fear it's another "Key 11, the faster you end the match, the quicker you get off"
As much as I'm frustrated with the two chances we blew. The amount of stupid balls into Gyokeres +5 Brentford defenders was utter stupidity.
Also, why take off Madueke, when Trossard had been almost entirely anonymous on the LW.
Also. Why not. Use the midfield. For transitions.

Also it's rarely a very high quality diagnosis. And hasn't anything to do with your thoracic spine. Actually it's the Plexus Brachial nerves, which resides in your cervical spine
The unfortunate part of Merino's injury, is the list of players with his quality that won't reduce squad depth a lot is pretty short. And consist of players that are unavailable for various reasons.
Goretzka
Ruiz
Palinha
Tonali
Tielemans
Gravenberch
Personally my danish player would be Jensen
That is like the 10th time I've seen teams just move right through our middle.
Yes good shot. But how does these teams keep getting that space???
My second thought is simply:
NΓΈrgaard was much better yesterday than what we give him credit for. Some stray passes, yes. But his distribution is very good, and he was in the right positions through most of the game.
- yes and Gyokeres is also better than we give him credit for.
Maybe my points is simply: It's not always the managers fault that the club is a shitshow, and I hope Amorim gets a successful position somewhere else.
Amorim shouldn't have been ManU coach. But even if you think he should, ManU is a slow and heavy team, who should focus on throwing their weight around in the final third and getting it out wide. That's not how Sporting looked at all.
Personally, I think it's a "owner-shareholder" problem. They look at the projected profit numbers and demand change. But the club can't change anything meaningful without loss of profits, so they do the "fire the scapegoat". Which does increase projected profits. But only for this year.
Now I'm not into that whole tribalism thing, so I don't have a problem saying that I think Thomas Frank is a good coach. But he's not a good Spurs coach. Because Spurs' a shotshow, and getting a new coach won't change that.
But no doubt, he will be thrown under the bus in some months time.
But now and onwards, he's the coach with the 39% winrate. Irregardless of his success at Sporting.
He definitely didn't fit the MO of the club, so why was he, not just hired, but recruited in the first place? Because of his winrate and high SCA at Sporting?
Ruben left ManU with the worst win record of all time.
He's going to be given the "Couldn't cut it awards" just like the people before him, trying to manage a poorly run club.
Was he a bad coach? Nope. Did he fit ManU? Nope again.
Even neutral pundits could see that a mile away.
There's two things ruminating in my head after yesterday's win against Portsmouth.
First one doesn't actually have anything to do with the match. It's simply:
Why do club recruitments persist with hiring coaches that doesn't fit?
Perhaps it's an extension of my own understanding of recruitings
I do wish Havertz gets some game time today. But I also understand the argument that you have to earn your rest. So as long as the team on the pitch acts like "Goals" is a mere icing on the cake, instead of the only important stat to win, I don't expect much more than, the first team.
MLS is such a conundrum.
How can you both be such a promising player and also play like you've never tried to run before
He tends to exclusively cross for the far post. And Gyokeres seems to exclusively move towards the near post.
Seems like the wrong MO
On one side. Gyokeres is not taking the right runs at all. On the other side, he is not being found when he does either.
He plays simple football, give him simple through balls.
When playing against man to man, it's integral to beat your man on the turn. Either by being that much better, or by using quick passes to get in behind.
Arsenal are doing neither. Martinelli got in behind once, and we looked dangerous for about 2-3 seconds. We need to do that. But get Gyokeres on
Also. I'm seeing voices about Jesus for the second half. But honestly, our problem isn't beating the final third, it's about getting us into the final third.
Our wingers are pinned down, and they got a bulldog on Γdegaard and Zubi. Honestly if we need anything right now, it's to up the tempo
Hincapie looking very timid. Why not just get that ball across the box, it's the last attack of the half.
He's what you want in a PL midfielder. Strong, good ball retention, good high pressure, able to shoot, arrive late in the box, positions himself in the space behind the midfielders.
He just also has a very punchable face
PCs all over the globe as their tasked to pirate the game live through dodgy websites
Because fuck overpaying to watch football.
