I am a comp bio person, it took me forever to create a plot from an analysis and write a code for it. Student took a screenshot of the plot, fed to ai, it created the code just in seconds as I watched it happen, shocked and amazed at the same time. It gave instructions which were pretty accurate

Cancer cells are notoriously plastic, but what triggers the changes in cell state? In our new Nature (@nature.com)‬ paper, Miranda Hunter (@mrndhntr.bsky.social‬) found that mechanical pressure is a key to this switch. Check it out here: go.nature.com/47iwDm2

Excited to share our latest work on the factors that determine what genes we find (and don't find!) in GWAS and burden tests.

We describe a critical concept that we call *specificity*.

Specificity, length and luck drive gene rankings in association studies - Nature Genetic association tests prioritize candidate genes based on different criteria.

How do GWAS and rare variant burden tests rank gene signals?

In new work @nature.com with @hakha.bsky.social, @jkpritch.bsky.social, and our wonderful coauthors we find that the key factors are what we call Specificity, Length, and Luck!

It can be a life line in some cases, if authors invested all time and effort in doing things one way, and the reviewer wants you try another way, both ways are correct, just multiple ways of approaching a problem. Having a lifeline like this saves time from doing things that don’t add to the story

Our recent preprint about using a custom chromatin capture assay, to identify potential target genes for cancer risk variants. For several variants, the target gene for cis regulation was ~ +/- 1Mb away, and we experimentally confirmed this for multiple targets.
